I’m gonna assume Hamill and Lynch are unavailable, but also assume that Sloane and Brown are available. One or more of those assumptions may end up being incorrect but based on that, I’ll say:

What I would do:

Out:
McPherson
Rowe
McAdam
Himmelberg
Hately (all omitted)

In:
Brown
Worrell
Newchurch
Sloane
Pedlar

The trio of Himmelberg, Thilthorpe and Walker is not going to be sustainable. It worked for a half against Hawthorn, who are a bottom 4 side and ended up beating us. Fog and Lynch are not the answer either. Go smaller. Retain Tex and Thilthorpe. Drop concrete hands Himmelberg. Bring in Pedlar to play at least 50% forward.

McAdam is a disgrace at the moment. Needs at least a month at the lower level. Newchurch to come in.

McPherson looks mentally shot. Drop him for a fortnight. Brown to come back in.

Rowe is depth only. Drop him indefinitely. McHenry, Schoenberg and Berry spend more time forward than they did today to compensate for Jimmy’s absence, Mackay also moves up the ground a bit to allow Worrell to come into the side for a much-deserved debut across half back.

Hately is not currently providing anything remotely AFL standard. His decision making is laughable. His skill level is unbelievably poor. Confidence clearly non-existent. Sloane replaces him.

B: Doedee - Butts - Brown
HB: Smith - Murray - Worrell
C: Sholl - Keays - Seedsman
HF: Pedlar - Walker - Schoenberg
F: Newchurch - Thilthorpe - Murphy
R: O’Brien - Sloane - Laird
Int: Berry, Kelly, Mackay, McHenry
Sub: NOT Fog, NOT an injured player, NOT a debutant

Thilthorpe rucking at the end was interesting

Thought it was as much a look to see what he can do and get him into the game as it was a test of whether we can function without Himmelberg and Frampton

Himmelberg hasn't really grabbed his chance (pun intended)

Tough to judge our whole forward line at the moment when we're getting smoked in the middle and our forays forward are very messy

They all looked poor today
With Rowe and McAdam adding nothing up the ground our poor midfield is further exposed.

I wish McHenry had Rowey's goal sense.

They'll all do bits and pieces but none delivering enough yet

Who will out of that group?

Hmmm... no definites at this stage unfortunately

Murray up forward as well during that period.

Test the structure of two sub 200cm forwards? Tex and Murray/Fog.

Drop Hberg, bring in Fog. Murray a floater. And somehow bring in McAsey.

Pedlar's not coming in, any talk of that is fanciful, O'Connor maybe if he has another good game tomorrow.

Out
McPherson, I reckon he is injured
Rowe, Looks tired offered nothing for a few weeks
Kelly tough one but need McAsey to play, Need to persist with Murray
Himmelberg, I like him but not good enough
MacAdam. One trick Pony. Offers nothing if cant take a speccy.

In
Jones, play down back. BP could be his go
Newchurch. Inject some pace
McAsey, we need a second genuine KPD
Fog. Have Tilthy second Ruck. Fog and Tex up forward
Sloaney

Again with Kelly.

isn’t going to happen and neither should it.

I see no point in selecting guys so that you can have a second ruck for 8 minutes a game.

Forwards have to be reliable kicks. Inaccuracy kills teams.

Yeah I agree.

Dixon, Marshall, Geordaris. Three big forwards.

Need McAsey. But dropping Kelly not the answer.

We played 4 small forwards today. Two did SFA.

Maybe instead of Newchurch, McAsey in.

Sloane should be fit enough, I'd bring Brown in..... Lynch can **** off.
If Brown is fit he needs to replace McPherson, who is making some seriously horrible turnovers in the D50 over recent weeks. Turnovers that are resulting in direct goals against too. Is by far our worst decision maker coming out of D50 this season.

People didn’t think Thilthorpe was coming in either. Play the first round talent.
FFS he's been injured most of the season and had a managed pre-season.....that's not remotely like Thilthorpe.

I say we might as well do it.

Thilthorpe/Walker/Fog feels like a much more mobile and balanced tall forward setup.

Movement is exactly what our forward line needs.

Himmelberg is not impressing me one bit this year.

Would give a team of...

B: Kelly, Butts, Doedee
HB: Smith, Murray, Hamill
C: Seedsman, Keays, Sholl
HF: McHenry, Fogarty, Murphy
F: Newchurch, Walker, Thilthorpe
R: O'Brien, Sloane, Laird
I: Worrell, Hately, Schoenberg, Berry

Brown may be in the mix too.

Hopefully get some good performances in the sanfl.

I'd go as far to say to Fogarty that if he wants to play then he needs to ruck those 6-7 minutes

Sure he'll get smacked but we are anyway and it means he's in the team

(Assuming we don't want Thilthorpe to do it)

Nick's needs to show a ruthless side now. It's one thing to back in young players into responding but there are just some players not doing the job. We cant allow a golden ticket culture to creep in and I do feel today's game really was a result of players just expecting things to happen. No one seemed to be willing to do the hard things.

McHenry tried hard, you could see his effort but does he actually achieve anything. Scholl did improve in the second half. Yes he worked hard but if he is working that hard and running huge distances for that result, perhaps there is an issue with his running patterns. For one of the fasted players in the side and to watch giants run away from him on multiple occasions was not a good look. They aren't a quick side and they made us look slow. That's an issue.

I thought McHenry was one of our better players today. He is a long way back in the queue to be dropped in my opinion.

Been that way all season really.

Loved his efforts last year and his marking around the ground was huge but his ruck work is awful and it's not like he moves like Grundy to make up for it either. I hope we look to draft a tap ruckman soon.
The new rules are making it hard for slow ruckmen to have an impact around the ground a lot of the time and do things like drop back for contested marks. Old friend of a friend scenario, have heard one ruckman say something like he is 10 metres further away from contests than he was last year because the ball is moving quicker.

Felt like it was a message to Himmelberg almost. Thilthorpe in the ruck, Murray up forward and Himmelberg relegated to doing nothing.
