Out: McPherson, McHenry, McAdam, Himmelberg, Rowe

In: Hamill if fit, perhaps Jones, Newchurch, Worrell, O'Connor

Done with the three Mcs in the short term at least. Satisfied we don't need either of Himmelberg or Frampton in the side to protect Thilthorpe from the ruck.

Thought Keays and Murphy were the two that genuinely tried. Keays our best quite comfortably.

Hate to say it, but that diabolical circumstance last week with Lynch as sub has just pin pricked any sort of feeling we are genuinely having a crack this season and the team played like that today. One of the weakest, softest performances I’ve seen.

McAdam and Rowe are shot. Absolutely done. They can’t be picked next week. Himmelberg was awful. So disappointing, I thought he had what it takes, but that was a scrap heap performance from him today. McHenry is worth persisting with, give him a go on ball. Murphy I can’t fault, plays his role. Walker is back to the usual crap he’s displayed for 3 years. His opponent, Taylor, is a very good player. So it’s Frampton in for Himmelberg, Fogarty for McAdam and Jones for Rowe.

The midfield clearly needs experience, of which is injured. Maybe they need to rotate more players through there. Use McHenry, Murphy, Jones etc. Try Doedee? Sholl is a talent, but his lack of applying any sort of pressure was exposed today. I put McPherson in a similar boat. Both have the talent to be part of the next push towards a premiership, but both just cruise too often.

Again, the back line is so inexperienced. Butts has lost confidence. Murray is inexperienced. Doedee is a 3rd tall/intercept only type player. Smith is the only that provides run.

What can be done?

The next lot of new players need to be introduced/reintroduced. Worrell, McAsey, Jones, O’Connor and even Newchurch.

My team vs Port:

F: Jones Thilthorpe Newchurch
HF: Fogarty Walker Murphy
C: McHenry Keays Seedsman
HB: Sholl O’Brien Smith
B: Mackay McAsey Kelly
R: Frampton Doedee Laird
I: O’Connor Schoenberg Worrell Hately
Sub: Murray

In: Jones, Newchurch, Fogarty, McAsey, Frampton, O’Connor, Worrell
Out: Rowe, Himmelberg, McAdam, McPherson, Butts, Berry, Murray (sub)

Unfortunately, I still think that we are kidding ourselves if we think there are any changes that will help us.

Until Roo and his mate Reid are out of the club, we are going nowhere. This is the list they built together, and it's very thin.

Can't even be bothered anymore. That was the most disappointing team I've seen on the park since our inception. I don't know how it got to this but I fully concur with DJ75 that Riccuito and Reid have ****ed our list. I want them out. I also don't trust Ogilvie as he needs to go for the sheer number of bad kicks on our list. They've had their time and failed. We can argue about players till the cows come home but we have a very average list

Time for a new direction as I don't trust those that got us in this state to get us out. They don't deserve the opportunity anyway. The club can put their head in the sand or do what's required to become a successful club.

Does feel like musical chairs on the Titanic if our current recruiters remain. Hard to get excited about draft currency when you have no confidence our recruiters will get the job done.

Based on the post match presser, they'll try and bring Sloane, Brown and Lynch back if they can.
Of course they will. Not having Lynch was obviously the difference

In: talk. I watched the game on tv but for the second week now it seemed there was very little talking from our guys.
Out:
Rowe. Im not sure what others see in him, there's no 'footy smarts' about him. He rarely positions himself correctly for a crumbing forward and is way too slow for that role. At 22 he should be a lot better.
Our coaches in general don't seem to be doing a good job on teaching any of them about positioning.

All we need to do is pick players we think are the future, and drop those that aren't.

No more short term results based thinking.

It literally doesn't matter whether some players have played well if they will not be around in 3 years. Don't play them. Play someone with a future.

This should drive everything about our selection

The most concerning thing for me is the lack of good skills.

so it turns out the “himmelberg hater” was right.. and himmelberg has been hot garbage this year..

how long a contract did they grant him at the end of last year?.. looks like we’re stuck with both he and frampton for a while. brilliant.

out
himm
mcpherson
rowe
m0okay... cant believe hes even being considered.. “oh.. but whatabout his experience and his run and carry”... **** off, his run and carry is ****n pointless if at the end of it he kicks it straight onto the chest of an opponent. HE IS NOT THE FUTURE AND WE ARE STILL WASTING GAMES ON THE ****HEAD.. GAMES AND EXPERIENCE THAT COULD BE GIVEN TO OUR YOUTH.

in
whoever sticks their hand up tomorrow.

In the modern game small forwards need to contribute up the ground.

Murphy and McHenry are showing they are capable of it.

McAdam plays the small forward role like an old school full forward. Leap for the mark, minimal ground pressure.

Rowe is not AFL fit.

McAdam/Rowe out with Newchurch and a mid (Sloane if fit or O'Connor) injects some pace and midfield depth to the side.

You are too clever for your own good sometimes.

Calling McAsam a one trick pony and suggesting Newchurch replace him is ironic to the max.

Thilthorpe rucking at the end was interesting

Thought it was as much a look to see what he can do and get him into the game as it was a test of whether we can function without Himmelberg and Frampton

Himmelberg hasn't really grabbed his chance (pun intended)
Himmelberg will be wetting the bed seeing that. Billy too.

Debut a kid at the expense of a nearly 26 year old performing poorly?

We gave up Mitch ****ING McGocern lol.

Go to bed.
Yep meant to say he wasn't worth the pick 20-25 people were saying he was worth. Best thing to say is he is better than Dean Gore
