Debut a kid at the expense of a nearly 26 year old performing poorly?

I'm not suggesting we don't drop Shane..... But to say he's a 1 trick pony is blatantly stupid.

Meanwhile Newchurch whilst good with ball in hand isn't going to help defensively which is our big issue down there.

Yep meant to say he wasn't worth the pick 20-25 people were saying he was worth. Best thing to say is he is better than Dean Gore
He's our 2nd leading goalkicker still, in a side that until today was 4th in points scored.

Rowe is the first one who needs to go. Bloke is a witches' hat out there.

Yeah you are right he has stood up in our over performing forward line. He had only had Frampton to beat and Thilthorpe is right behind him after 2 games

Right behind him ?? Settle down.

Rain predicted next week probably slippery wet conditions, small opportunist forward, I would give him another go.
Thing is, he doesn't look to get involved, he wants others to get him the pill. Bit like McAdam really.... And leaving the defending to Berry, Murphy and Neddy

A fair point. Newchurch may lift his defensive capacity at AFL level and/or maturity.

And yes McAdams defensive capacity was better last year. This year for most games woeful.

Maybe he is a victim of the longer game time?

I personally think he's carried an injury for a few weeks. Even today he chased and tackled early, just nowhere near it later.

If we pick Newchurch I'm certain he'll do what Rowe did. Which is fine but it doesn't solve our defensive forward issues.

In - Greenwood, Lyons
Sloane and Crouch's injuries have left a gaping hole in the middle and it's no surprise that we were belted in the middle again. However, we were right to not offer Greenwood a better contract than what the Suns were offering given his age, and it's really time people moved on from Lyons. He hasn't been at the club since 2016. What needs to happen though is for Haggis to actually start targeting classy mids with good kicking skills, no more tough nuts who provide a lot of pressure but can't kick over a jam tin.

Missing our 2 best midfielders doesn't make a difference according to some.

FFS he's been injured most of the season and had a managed pre-season.....that's not remotely like Thilthorpe.

Pedlar has now played a month continuously in the SANFL. He’s ready to come in, and the likes of Rowe and McAdam have no business holding him out of the side.

The comparison with Thilthorpe was in relation to their lack of “bust the door in” SANFL form. So yes, it is pretty much exactly like Thilthorpe.

Edit: have just been informed that Pedlar is being rested from the SANFL tomorrow. Put his AFL debut on ice for another 2-3 weeks in that case.

Yeah, injured is not rested btw. *edited

ADELAIDE

Adelaide will be without the midfield drive of David Mackay and Luke Pedlar for its game against Sturt at Unley Oval.

Veteran Mackay has been called up for AFL duty along with defender Nick Murray while solid onballer Luke Pedlar is out with injury.

Adelaide University signing Mitch Marini has been recalled to the interchange bench after featuring in the opening two rounds.

The Crows are still to include their AFL emergencies in their SANFL squad.

League

F: Newchurch, Davis, J. Mathews

HF: J. Cook, Salt, Clarke

C: Marshman, Jackson, B. Cook

HB: McAsey, Borlace, Wright

B: Latchford, Merrett, L. Mathews

R: Strachan, Boyle, O’Connor

INT: Marini plus AFL Emergencies to be added

IN: Marini

OUT: Mackay (AFL), Murray (AFL), Pedlar (injured), Baccanello (thigh)

Out:
McAdam - doesn't look fit
Rowe - circuit breaker
McPherson - doesn't look fit
Himmelberg

possible ins:
Sloane
Jones
Worrell
Fogarty
O'Connor
McAsey

Bad moves, leave the debuts until we have an easier game. We always bring in kids against the top sides. Jones, Worrell, O'Conner and McAsey need to come in against a current bottom 6 side not a finals bound team.

Look I guess if Chayce plays well tomorrow he might find himself selected against Port. Does anyone still hold out any hope that this guy might turn out to be an AFL standard player?
I can

In a role where he can be reactive.

Luke Brown replacement.

Maybe he's a victim of being played carrying a niggle, has looked way of it since the shoulder issue he had during a game?

He's shown in the past he's a manic chaser and tackler, not helpful in the tackling department if he hasn't got confidence in it.

Neither have we, and they absolutely stitched us up in the preseason. No I don't watch Pear games, no interest in the pondscums.
The difference being is that no one is talking us up as being a contender.

Yeah Port will flog us next week.

Yes unfortunately the injury has come at the wrong time for Luke.
