If Darcy is fit I'd like to see the Darcy + Meek experiment (especially against Gawn) although we'll likely be lamenting a lack of mobility before quarter time.

Failing that Fyfe simply has to play 60-70% forward. Obviously a huge hit to the midfield but we already have a guy on our list who is a beast, one of the best overhead marks in the game and an excellent tall forward partner for Tabs. Cox and Pearce are needed in the backline but I'd be happy to see Hamling tried forward or Logue more midfield pushing others further up.

TBH Brayshaw/Cerra/Tucker/Serong/Fredericks look pretty primed to make the midfield their own with Fyfe, Mundy and Co supporting.

Longmuir did make the comment, but it may have been a generalization. Which moves by Longmuir have you noticed to indicate that it isn’t a core coaching philosophy of his?

I dunno. Maybe Conca as a lockdown defender. Banfield as a high half forward. Stephen Hill at half back. On the whole I’m happy with Jlo. It was more that Lyon used to get berated on here for allegedly playing blokes out of position.

too green, setting him up for failure does not help his development.
We threw Frederick in and look what the experience has done for his development and confidence. Playing Treacy is not just playing 'next best available' but an investment into our future. The Cyclone also has natural talent and has worked hard over the preseason so I think he deserves his shot.

Playing as a key forward/back up ruck is a lot lot lot harder than a small forward for a first year player.

Pre sunday injuries, Haselby trying to suggest Banfield would have been lining up as a forward for r1. Seriously, wtf.

As a key forward? Yeah I have pretty low expectations its fair to say.

They'd both develop a bit more forward nous and chemistry with other forwards but we'd probably be dropping more games than we'd like

Alright how about something crazy? How about we play Ryan up foward as he's a great mark and has a big leap on him? Imagine winning AA in the defence and fowardline?

As with Naughton at the Dogs, we will have to play Chapman, Cox or Logue forward.
Natural footballers can play anywhere.
Oscar Allen could play any position in the spine, and almost instant results.
Forgot about Pearce, Hamling, both have been tried forward with mixed results.

What does our team need most right now? A KPF or a KPF?
Not to have Darcy carry 100% in the ruck and go straight back out injured, Tabs sucks in the ruck.

Darcy can kick a goal and Meek is the more mobile, like I said above I'd expect playing both to be well down the order of preferences but both do have potential for development.

I’ve been thinking about it more, really, it has to be Cox that goes forward. That backline is nuts regardless. Hamling and Pearce were pretty good before Cox took off and Cox is the one with the most recent experience and actual success up there. He’s also the most creative of the three with genuine flair.

Bite the bullet JL, put Cox up front, with his ridiculous confidence at the moment, he’ll kill it wherever he plays

Cox is our Oscar Allen - type player and I’m sure he’d go alright as a forward but my lord he was sublime as a defender on Sunday. He’s also the best field kick out of all our KPD options. His decision making and foot skill is seriously underrated.

Interesting...

Cox needs to pinch hit in the ruck/forward, the others are injury prone or coming back from injury.
Meek with Cox, Tabs forward of centre.
Chapman to debut earlier than expected.
If you can not kick goals from 50m what is the point of playing forward?

I like Cox forward as well but the ruck concerns me. Lloyd had been promising but AFL debut against Gawn by himself that is a worry.

If Cox is going to help out in the ruck then all good. If not I hope Darcy plays a blinder this weekend for Peel. Two years ago I would never have believed Meek and Darcy in the same team but their mobility is much improved.

If Darcy plays well this weekend then he and Meek are in and rotate between forward and ruck. If Darcy isn’t ready Cox forward and he can use his mobility around the ground when in the ruck and drop back of the centre.

I’d have Chapman on the bench after that last quarter.

It’s a good thing we didn’t play the likes of Serong and Cerra. That practice match on the weekend was a train wreck.

Who said Darcy is playing for Peel this weekend?
