I agree.

I am a great fan of Warnock, but fair go, give him time to put some more meat on his bones. We are not so desperate to need him yet.

Campbell and Gimour have done nothing wrong as backups, and if they both use their booming kicks, we have further forward options from along way out.

Bingo as well, keep changes to a minimum Parker out with injury in comes Johnson. Allow the team to build chemistry and momentum.

Gilmore and Kiwi kicking it 60 m plus on a regular basis could be a big headache for Adelaide who drop players about 40 m behind the play and then pressure the ball carrier. Gilmore had a good game against Adelaide last year IIRC.

I think he only looks skinny because Sandi is so big. He'd currently be at a similar weight to Spider Burton.

I dont think there is any need to play him yet he is obviously developing very well leave him there for a bit until we play someone like Sydney or Geelong (if they play Blake and King) whom have 2 specialised very good ruckmen. Adelaide have Hudson and Griffen not exactly guys that scare you leave it to Sandi and Campbell and Gilmore to fill in.

My opinion is Campbell deserves another shot his aggression was very encouraging, he gave his all and if he had have hung on to a couple of marks he just didnt take could have kicked a couple more goals. I am also of the belief that Parker is nearly finished.

In: Warnock (adelaide have no decent ruckman we could stretch them further with him), Johnson, Cook(if well)
Out: Cambell, Walker, not sure about the third player Gilmores been fairly good

Hahahahaha

Hudson is a gun and Griffin is one of the best young rucks in the AFL right now.

Have to disagree on all these issues. Freo may be faster? but we have played faster sides (Port & Dogs) and won. Too strong - doubt it, we have quite a few younger guys playing that have not filled out, but overall we are a very solid team. Back line is our one of our strengths. Pav & Rutten should be a good battle and Tarrent and whoever (I think Mattner, most think Bassett) will also be good.

Pav was brilliant against the Dees, but will not have the luxury of a midfield under little or no pressure and a wide open forward line. If he plays deep in the forward line expect him to be doubled teamed alot.

A lot..lot faster than Adelaide which is so important at Subi with its open spaces. Also suits Pav, who will do the usual and kick another bag of goals as he cannot be contained by your defence.

CC is also a better coach than Neil Craig and will expose other weaknesses with the right matchups and apply the pressure even more.

Your kidding right? Hudson may be good, but he's still coming off a long lay off against Sandilands and one of Sandi's elbows is gonna sort Griffin out real quick.

You did actually see the first couple of games didn't you?

You mean the ones where Mundy was tagged? He didn't cope very well initially but I would say he was given a rocket as he played his heart out last week. With Black & Johnson back he will get less attention from the opposition and should generate the drive we are used to. Exquisitely skilled player, I would never have him on the pine.

I went to the Freo match against Melbourne last week, and if you guys think that you played well in the match you didn't. Melbourne would've been a lot closer to winning if they had targets up forward and didn't have so many injured players. And I like Fremantle...

Your skills are not up to it at the moment. The amount of times you overpossessed and couldn't find your targets with the footy was incredible. You played around with it and handballed WAY too much. Your clanger count was way too high too. 56, Adelaide had 41 in their match against Sydney.

Anyway in terms of changes, Johnson is back for Freo and will replace Parker. Cook won't be back and that will be your only change unless some of your players get injuries. Don't complain about injuries by the way as an excuse for losing the match, Adelaide have 13. :P (jkin)

Having said that, it will be a good contest though. I think Adelaide with just come up the trumps but I hope to see Freo in September!

The only certain change would be MJ for Parker (inj).

But I'd be tempted to bring Cook in for Walker. I'm a big fan of Cookie and I'm surprised he didn't get a game last week. Walker's been serviceable as usual but nothing more.

I'd like to see Warnock get a game sometime but I don't know who for. Gilmore seems to be improving and I certainly wouldn't be dropping Kiwi - love his hardness in the forward line.

I'm surprised by the lack of love for Mundy by some. People complain about our lack of skills but then want to drop one of most skillful players because he doesn't dive headfirst into packs like Cookie. I think Mundy will always cop grief because he looks so casual but there's few players in the team I'm more confident in with the ball than him.

Thanks for your view jasrocks. I just want to check one thing though. We can't use injuries as an excuse etc. But We beat Melbourne because they have injuries? Am I reading it right???

We are also about 4 players off our best 22, mainly through self inflicted wounds. We badly need this win, and need to find our best form, and sustain it.

Out:
Parker, Walker

In:
Johnson, Duffield

I hope they don't play Parker just cause it's macca's 200th. We need 22 fit players out there each week. no bench warmers!! Duffs is harder at the ball and the man and his disposal gets better the more he plays. Walker is a fringe player at best now...

Your argument plays out like its Ok to crucify Headland for not winning the hard ball and laying tackles but it is ok for Mundy.

The reason Mundy has looked 'casual' in the first three games was because he was. Plenty of missed passes. I think he has dropped off from last year. He's not alone though.

I've never been one to crucify Headland. I recognise how important he is to the structure of our team and I think his hardness and tackling isn't as bad as it's made out to be.

Mundy's form probably isn't as good as last year but I still think he's been worthy of a spot, His derby game was very good and I think sometimes his spoiling and other defensive work goes underrated because he doesn't play like a blood and guts defender like Grover, Dodd etc.

And you're right, plenty of the team are down on form from last years run.

Sorry I meant that Melbourne's injuries to some key players seem to affect how they play for the worse. I think that you still would've won if they were full strength IMHO. I know that you guys have injuries too.

I wasn't saying you personally, Esti. Just how the argument can be perceived.

Fair enough. It'd be nice if we could stack our team full of 6 foot+ running machines, with sublime skills who tackle like demons but there aren't many of those around. So we have to accept limitations in some players as long as the positives outweigh the negatives.

That's why I'll always support having classy, skillful guys like Headland and Mundy in the team even if other parts of their game may be lacking a little. Hell, even Pav isn't exactly a hard nut, intimidating type - if he was we'd have the second coming of Carey at CHF. Likewise I've always got a spot for Cookie. His hardness and work around the packs compensates for any lack of skills he may have.

Conversely this is why I'm not a big fan of Walker (as a player). He seems neither hard enough nor skillful enough to warrant a regular spot IMO. The jury's still out on Gilmore for me too.

For sure, and work to the trengths. Same goes for all of the players. Cook's disposal, Solomon's frees against, Bell too short, Tarrant's kicking for goal. The list is long, and would be similar at most clubs.

Gilmore is worth his spot on the list. He is developing, and has some versatility. The jury isn't out on his potential to win a Brownlow. They are back, and said "Nup". They are still considering if he will get to 100 games.

In melbourne for the Demons game. Team was solid, so hope minimal changes, maybe Johnson for Parker if he does not come up.

All guys played well but Pav, big Sandi and Shauny Mac had outstanding games.

Everyone raves about Judd but Pav is the "money man". IMO better and delivers. Deliver it properly and he will mark it most times. Just a gun and close to the best set of hands in comp.

Big Sandi killed Melbourne and ran hard. Took his marks and is getting better.

Shanuny Mac was so clean and kicked it long. Just getting better and looking forward to his 200.

CC coaching was great too. Covered Melbourne well with great moves and interchanges. Convincing win and we will start the march up the ladder.

We will be far too fast and strong for Adelaide. They are very ordinary and suspect against a fast team. Back line will be struggling against Pav/Tarrant plus Pav always kicks a bag of goals against them.

hmmm.... bulldogs and port both "fast" teams much faster than freo and the result of those games were???
an adelaide win

hall>>>>>>tarrant = another scalp for rutten
