Dude he had a breakout year last year in his first year as a player. Battled above his weight-class, was exceptional in the Sydney away win.

He played a handful of good games this year - but has dropped a bit. Why would we expect him to be elite every game as a second year player?

He's going to be massive for us.

I'd be more critical of Cox, Ryan and perhaps even Chapman who appear to have gone backwards. But Draper isn't the issue.
He's nearly 200cm and been forced to play on small forwards too. It is a credit to his athletic ability that he was given that role in the first place.

Chapman has been JLed. His first season had so much run off half back and now we’re trying to get him playing on small forwards??
Look Chapman's stagnation was happening even last season so this ain't an excuse for that. But in all fairness, he's the best of some bad options to athletically keep up with the smalls. Everyone else apart from maybe Clark would get burnt, and Clark offers more quality run off half back than basically the rest of them combined (unless Wagner plays defence).

Just a couple games ago vs Adelaide I thought Draper first half was very good. It’s not like it’s been ages since we’ve seen him play good football. There’s no problem there.

Walker is a big influence of this. Plus don’t underestimate Young moving to the midfield had on the defence. He was elite. Great mark, reliable kick. Haven’t found a replacement and it shows.

With out Walker, who else do you send.

Everyone else got smashed. We are still having smalls kicking 4 or 5 goals against us most weeks, last week it was 9 I think.

We badly miss Walker.

Guys like Worner, Aish, Wagner, Simpson should all be playing much more defensive roles. It’s like actually defending doesn’t matter to some of them or JL if they’re getting the ball forward

Worner and Wagner are the two who have played, and should probably be taking that role.

I don't why, but maybe they are not quick enough or ....

But on the flip side, you can definitely have not enough of them.
He's a nice kick and sound decision maker too.
Yep. The best we've looked is against Adelaide and he was a real connector with Duds, Reid & Amiss. One of the few players that kicked the ball quickly and into good spots. I think he offers more than Switta at the moment.

Instead we have Voss who can barely make it through a match without injuring one of his own team mates, usually Treacey.
Great guy and heart & soul player but the definition of a meathead.

McDonald vs Voss is a very good discussion around who is better for the team.

I think there is a reasonable risk McDonald returns to a lower average in terms of his kicking we saw, but if that was the norm it would be a weapon.

The physicality of Voss did offer a fair bit as well, and I think he would be more effective in the ruck in general.

I can't believe I am going to take public transport three hours return from the centre of Australian's most iconic city, to watch a bunch of purple sea dogs phone it in against the league's failed corporate orange trojan horse.
Was going. Have a ticket (am on the east coast for work) and then a colleague (ok, ok my boss) said "Lets go to to see the ol' Newton Jets play state league rugby league at Hanson Park. Couple of beers on the terrace ... Old school!"

And I forgot all about the GWS game.

It's not you Freo, it's me.

And that worries me. I have high hopes of Draper being a really good player, but he's fallen in a hole. And I don't know why.
At 21, he’s one of the younger players in a young team. Will have inconsistent games. He’s also shown he has the ability to play excellent games.
Right now could one factor affecting his form be the re-entry of Chapman? Josh excelled at a more run-with role before. With Chappy back that’s changed.
Whatever, after seeing him absolutely rise to the occasion when we were without Moose, I really hope he continues to get opportunities.

The match review identified four stupid skill errors in the first quarter resulting in goals against and another half dozen examples in the game where a player missed the handball option that would have put a player at the top of the square taking a shot.

It's not that bad.
No it's not that bad

It's only literally dogshit

Tom Swift? Come on mate, we have got a couple of levels of shityness to go before we break the glass and call Tom out from retirement. Having said that, Tom could well be in purple next week the way we are going.
Swift was good. WCE fans expected him to be Chris Judd on debut.

I’d take him based on this, kicks both sides and moves the ball faster than most of our list

The club ones again shows at the selection table it’s only the favorite players back in.banfield has had his chances and done nothing Brodie provides a significant amount more than what banfield does. The club just has no idea at the selection table

'Meanwhile West Coast have Tom Swift'.

As repeatable as Out: Pearce.

Who did they choose Swift ahead of? Was it Blakely?
