Changes Round 11 vs Demons

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Hopefully ADZ Isnt waddling around with his legs close together like a man in desperate need of a toilet.

If he is, questions must be asked of the selection committee. And Adam himself.
The biggest question mark around Treloar is his agility and change of direction. His last outing was hard to watch. A player with a target on his back, telegraphing every move, is poison at the highest level.

I've said it before I'm on both sites and I do have a talk to the regular track watchers.
I try to time mentioning the specific names here until 20 minutes before they get announced.
More than happy to step back if it's creating doubt and angst.
Nah no ones offended or anything mate, post away 😂 i just meant you dont necessarily have to be well connected when the info is out there if you're active on other forums. I just figured you are one of the ones who attend open trainings like many on Woof

Love Oscars efforts but has been bad for a few games now

Cooper has played in 16 games and wouldn't have qualified for a 'good' rating in any of them yet.

In fact, being rated as 'bad' in a few games would arguably be a step up for Hynes, as most of the time he could easily be marked off the role as being 'absent', in spite of taking the field with his teammates.

Selecting him in his current form is an indirect insult to every non-selected player on our list, not just Oscar.

He seriously needs to lift and put in a decent performance soon to justify his position, lest his career be over before it has really begun.

This is such a poor take that I'm just about speechless.

Cooper is a kid doing his best in a situation not of his choosing. Like a number of players in the team in the recent past, they are not yet ready to shine in the AFL but injuries have necessitated their playing in the senior side.

Get off your high horse and stop potting players who are clearly not ready but are doing their best.

Cooper Hynes , 15 possies, 1 goal, 5 tackles v Hawthorn this season. He'll be ok, he doesn't have the kgs to play the way he wants to just yet.

I gotta feel it's either going to be a 100 point smashing or we somehow pull off a gutsy 4 point win

I do not think anyone is saying he not trying, but he has been very poor in all his recent games and unless we have already given up on the season at 5 and 5 win loss ratio and want to put games into younger players playing Baker gives us a better chance of winning. Plus Baker although not great last week was better than Hynes.

Defensive work, I don't think the coaches are happy with Baker's last few weeks defensively.

For example last week:

Hynes - 14 pressure acts, 4 tackles
Baker - 8 pressure acts, 0 tackles

Port Adelaide Game:

Hynes - 11 pressure acts, 5 tackles
Baker - 7 pressure acts, 0 tackles

I don't think Baker is doing the required defensive stuff.

I agree Baker has not been great recently. However he does provide some run won us the game against the crows. Hynes has just not picked up the pace of the game yet and is a bit of rabbit in the headlights with the ball.

Obviously Baker needs to work his on defensive skills but in a must win game I think he should be in before Hynes.

That is simply not true.

I’m sure that Cooper is trying hard. Although I’m not necessarily convinced that he has been doing everything possible to make the grade, he is at least putting in a substantial amount of effort but just not doing well at AFL level, and that is ok.

What isn’t ok, is to keep selecting him in the side when his form clearly doesn’t warrant it. The cupboard is not that bare, and there are several players who spring to mind that should definitely be selected in front of him.

The problem for Cooper is that he has been a serious liability to the team in recent games, which isn’t great for his confidence or for team success, and even has the potential to get the fan base off side, which could potentially be a death knell to a young career.

We have destroyed too many players in this way, by playing them too much when they aren’t ready, then won’t select them later because they are considered to have been given enough chances.

I can't think of one player in the VFL side picked this weekend that could replace Cooper.

This in particular is the line I was objecting to:

"He seriously needs to lift and put in a decent performance soon to justify his position, lest his career be over before it has really begun."

This is what you said:

"He seriously needs to lift and put in a decent performance soon to justify his position, lest his career be over before it has really begun."

You were clearly blaming the player to a large extent. It's an incorrect and poor take. I'm sick of Emmett, Hynes, Croft being accused of not giving enough. Of needing to lift. They are giving what they are able to my eye. It's not their fault they are not yet ready.

But lets declare their careers will soon be over.

Baker has been poor since the Geelong game not really sure why it’s such a surprise

Cleary comes in and will push Bramble back to the wing (hooray his best position) Jaques will run though the wing as will Arty and McNeil

Treloar in frees up Bont/Kennedy to play forward more

If Treloar in allows Bont more time forward, it’s a win. Even if he can’t run as well as he once did. We need more avenues to goal & Bont is one of the few that can actually kick multiple in a game.

Big Baker fan, but that late season last year and early season this year desperation has tapered off recently. Even the Cats game where he had plenty of opportunity at goal, I feel he was gambling quite a bit, and I think without too much evidence he’d be confident of us winning the ball.

He’ll be back in the team at some point, he’s a backs against the wall type as well.

How can the AFL keep letting clubs like Melbourne, Carlton, etc. use Marvel to play as their home ground a few weeks ago Dees played West toast at Marvel etc ? The sides playing at Marvel, in my view, have the least home ground advantage. Melbourne, if you want to play a west coast use the MCG . Only one side has won the premiership in 25 years that plays at Marvel. It's just not right

Maybe we need to start playing home games in Corio.

We're not allowed to train on it either, not sure we'd want to given the potential for injuries . But surely some sessions there wouldn't go amiss.

It's not Melbourne's decision.

Every MCG tennant has to play 1 home game a year at Marvel

Not sure if Treloar is really fit, but I think we're a desperate for some talent around the coal face. Kinda bad that we'll probably have an injured Treloar, injured Bont and injured Richards together in the midfield at the same time though?
Need the lesser lights to stand up big time
