We are talking about selecting a team for tomorrow not three years time.
And the jury is seriously out on whether Hynes will be still be here then.

He has a contract for next year but needs to lift his game substantially to make sure he gets offered another one.
Oh let's just pick players for the now moment not the future:). That method has really seen our stock of defense key position players really develop the last few years:)

No they don’t, I believe what he has posted has clearly articulated the issue with Cooper. He has absolutely no elite traits that are visible yet. Every player has a strength that stands out.
Tell me what Coopers is please. He might develop into a reasonable soldier. But he’s never on current showing going to be anything exceptional

Unfortunately I think Hynes development timeline needs to be viewed as something more like a tall forward. Think Darcy Fogarty. Hynes did a lot of his damage at U18 level using a size advantage he doesn’t and may never have at AFL level.

I personally think his ceiling as a midfielder at AFL level is at the lower end, he isn’t impactful enough at stoppage to offset that he also isn’t flash on the spread. So unless he makes some real inroads on both of those fronts he needs to develop into a genuine goal kicker. But the way he did that at U18 was by pushing lighter bodies around, hence it’s going to take him a while. If ever.

Nobody except you spoke about elite traits. Go back and read the posts.
Elite traits are what he has that may keep him on the list. He isn’t even adequate at multiple skills. I think today showed that.
Kicking, marking, speed, spread, hardness, defensive pressure, goal kicking. None of these skills are up to even the minimum of AFL standard at this stage.
He might develop them but I just don’t see it. I hope I’m w but he’s had a lot of opportunity to show something. I haven’t seen anything that shows me he has a long term future at AFL level.

Once again, you completely miss the points made in the conversation. Nobody except you is debating whether he does or does not have elite traits. If you are going to quote me at least do me the courtesy of reading what I said.

You have said he will be on the list long term future I’m saying at this stage he won’t. I disagree with you move on.
