He’s not in the team to be a long distant runner it doesn’t win games. He butchers the ball with his lack of vision just blasting into the forward line or taking shots when better options exist. Just doesn’t get enough of the ball. Swap for Noddy
Is there a train of thought that would suggest having Noddy on the team makes Sharp a better player?

I'm not a full bottle on the intricacies of the wingers, so it's a genuine query of mine.

Does the love heart eyes react mean you wanna write it Hamann188?

At some point surely Sharp needs to contribute more than running. 3 disposals in a full game when your team is well on top is ridiculous for a guy with his tank. And 8 tackles from 10 games isn't flash either. Are we just going to keep selecting him until Toby Whan is ready to take over? I think he is very fortunate that we have so many injuries atm.
In any other team he would be dropped but I'm pretty sure JLO has given him the specific role to stay wide, and defensively stop the switch.
Players being a complete decoy and not contributing at all (except for guarding space) is an interesting tactic by JLO and is either ahead of its time or bloody stupid. Time will tell.

I think we can live Sharp not getting much footy for a bit as we have to lock down the shape of our team defense and how we intend to shut down opposition transition (including switching to the fat side where Sharp is). What he has to however is spread better from / get more footy coming out of stoppages on his side of the field.

If we play Ras for the rest of the year, by that time he will be a better option than O'Meara, Fyfe, Johnson and Brodie. I thought he was very solid on the weekend. And that is reflected in the coaches vote.

And Voss gives us a bit of mongrel, strength, a good second ruck, a third tall forward option and infectious energy. At the moment I would play him ahead of Darcy. Swaggy needs to go back to the WAFL and show us what kind of player he is. When he starts dominating at that level then he can be considered for selection. Make him hungry.

For me, no changes this week.

Heave ho!

GWS were horrible yesterday, we should have been 5 or 6 goals up at half time leading to a 70 point win so we can't take too much from the game.

When it was close early Erasmus had 6 disposals at 33% and a free kick against. Too slow with ball in hand and a poor kick, will get exposed when we play the better teams.
If only whichever coach gave him the vote paid attention to the very important, not made up at all to further a silly agenda "disposal efficiency for the first quarter" stat.

To the extent disposal efficiency is a good metric (it's not), a shame that Ras cleaned up his disposal once it "stopped being close". Which here means "following a first quarter where we were up by a whole goal".

In: Darcy
Out: Bannas (unlucky)

Sub: Voss (can come on when one of the talls breaks down over first 3 qrts or at 3/4 for Darcy)

Keep it simple; it's their preferred option and i don't care if we see Jackson roving to Darcy; just want to keep plenty of smaller options both in our backline and FWDline

Switta is on edge of being dropped - just doesn't look as invested as in previous years; isn't putting out required output for a small FWD with his age and experience

Wouldn't worry me if they kept Bannas in and dropped Switta

I am not sure about that. Two previous Docker wingers thatare playing elsewhere now are ball butcherers, as they were at Freo.
I think Langdon kicks the ball OOB more than any other payer in the league. His dispoasa is horrendous.
Acres is the other one, fluffs the ball far more than he should Also a OOB expert.

Acres aims for height over length in his kicks

There were a couple of early turnovers. One a handball and another a kick. The switch kick wasn’t a bad option just didn’t hit it quite right and also took too long. Thereafter Ras did well. Was accountable for Green and obviously one of the coaches felt he played his role very well. Haters gonna hate at the end of the day.

This is where DE fails and clangers is probably a better stat. He had 4 "inefficient" disposals in the 1st Q, but not all inefficient disposals are equally bad:
  • The handpass i50: horror
  • The switch kick: Bad execution but also I think Ras can at times overestimate his power. Last year I swear every set shot he took in the WAFL was btwn 40 and 50m out. Anything above 40m he basically should only go for if it's a hack kick from stoppage.
  • Kick out of centre square to Dudley: Good kick. But the formula is if you kick it under 40m and the player doesn't retain possession, inefficient kick.
  • Soccer on the wing: lol at counting that
Lumping the first 2 and the last 2 together is dumb. It serves to both stupidly critique the last 2 and understate how bad the first 2 were.

That first handball error seemed to be a miscommunication between he and another player. You could see them interacting afterwards. On that occasion he flicked out too quickly. I agree that the switch to what he thought was space and prob Sharp was a little outside his range. You could see what he was trying to do.

I'd love to know if JLo gave him the vote. I'm guessing no.

It's going to be cold and wet this weekend, would be crazy to go taller.

No change.

Think sharpe is in the team for exactly this - his long distance running.

Shutting down options correctly gets u no stats because u have rubbed out them kicking / running / handballing the ball your way because of how ypu have cprrectly positioned yourself.

If the team doesnt head down your side at all often because of strategy of taking on the corridor, then again, low stats.

We will know whether he did his job or not last game by whether he gets dropped pr not.

Hope not.

Let's say we bought Darcy in this week against port. We win as expected. But then we have the game against suns away. Does this mean we would leave Darcy out, knowing perhaps playing Jackson ruck would suit better. This chopping and changing prob not great for our mids.
