I still think people are overrating what Jackson can do in the ruck based on the same old story of playing against the next tier down.

I'm a believer in the Darcy and Jackson combo, but Darcy has to get fit, otherwise it won't work which I guess is a problem itself.

In my view Erasmus must be given a string of games to allow him to demonstrate that he's up to the level. Likewise Simpson, who went some way to doing that yesterday.
I mean the fans, including myself, were lamenting Worner being picked. But with each game he’s stamping himself as a strong intercept player willing to take on the contest.
Now he’s cemented into the defence allowing Wagner to go midfield as well as Simpson coming in.
There’s merit in backing young guys to play every week and build form.
Ballsy to select Simpson off only 5-6 games for Peel playing half back.

Then where does Voss fit? He’s too good to leave out. His energy and presence alone lifts the team.

Easy to get carried away with a great win. Still I think hard calls need to be made

1. Darcy
2. Sharp. Fat side wing can be feast or famine and I'm sure someone will highlight the KMs he runs but he wasn't bad, he was invisible. It's not like the oppo is trying to shut him down either. We learnt that there was an apparent reason why Brodie couldn't get a game at the suns. I think we are finding out the same with Sharp. He has been really bad all year. We need to make gains wherever we can and that seems like low hanging fruit
Disagree on Sharp.

That role is about what you’re doing without the ball. Covering space to ensure the switch can’t occur, folding back to add support in the D50, the sprinting on transition to either be an option for a defensive outlet or draw a defender to create space in a zone.

Johnsons disposal has deteriorated to the point he's completely in his head for whatever reason. It was never THIS bad. Tells me he can turn it around.

Darcy and Jackson can work together but Jackson must play on ball when not rucking AND Darcy needs to be fully fit. The 700k a year for Darcy isn't so bad we have to get rid of him immediately but I still think its best to see if he wants to "explore his opportunities" and save some cash which will really suck coz I love that big lug.
In the fourth quarter against Collingwood the other week, Johnno turned the ball over on an i50 kick and Nick Daicos (who was his nearest opponent) got right into his face to let him know about it. A right little campaigner he was - sarcastically clapping and plenty of words to boot.

To channel the Crom fan…it was right in front of me on the north western flank.

Anyway, Johnno’s head went straight down.

He’s massively down on confidence atm.

Agree to some extent, but I didn't see him have any influence in d50. Surely we can have someone do all that off the ball stuff while also having some tangible influence. I saw sharp at a few clearances on his wing and he was completely unmanned and looked absolutely lost.

We are 5 and 5 we need to look at incremental improvements across every line. This is his last month of footy

5 touches vs crows
17 touches vs saints
13 touches vs pies
3 touches vs gws

his averages are considerably down across the board. The stats below dont include yesterdays game which will drag the down even further.

Agreed but you should be at least get some ball and lay a tackle. IMG_4401.jpeg

Yeah, we need Darcy to be the ruck against bigger rucks as he blunts their impact. This year no but in the past yes. He just needs to get fit.
I do believe we should get him fit and rolling and entertain/investigate a trade to Geelong at seasons end.

At some point surely Sharp needs to contribute more than running. 3 disposals in a full game when your team is well on top is ridiculous for a guy with his tank. And 8 tackles from 10 games isn't flash either. Are we just going to keep selecting him until Toby Whan is ready to take over? I think he is very fortunate that we have so many injuries atm.

NOD soon to come back

Geez didn't realise he'd been that invisible. Feel like I usually see so much of him near the ball at Optus.

Three games this year he's had under 10 touches but they've also all been in wins. I just don't get how he can accumulate so little.

Agreed on Simpson. Not sure if he's genuinely losing momentum or simply becoming complacent but reckon Sharp could do with a week in Peel.
We need to be very careful with his next contract.

He is the type of player Whan could push out.

Still holds his spot, but we need to upgrade that spot next year.

If they're not fit, play them in WAFL. I'd like NOD in but not if he's only half ready.

Darcy needs a few weeks in the WAFL. Nobody benefits if he comes straight back in.

Bring in players, only if they are 100% fit.

Love what NOD brings, but he needs a run or two in the WAFL to sharpen his blade.

Same with Darcy.

Question to ask is, why do we change the team this week ?. Have better options ?, players horrifically out of form ?. I'm happy with where the players are going.

He hasn't starred every week but has definitely provided some solid outings;
r2 - 18p's @83%
r4 - 21p's and a snag
r5 - 21p's @90%
r6 - 18p's 1 goal 3 and 6 score involvements
r7 - 17p's and 2 score involvements
r9 - 13p's 3 score involvements

For a guy we are paying minimum wage to be churning out those numbers is exactly what you need to be able to pay the big guns on the list. Yeah he missed out on Saturday but if our wingman not being rewarded for his run means we are getting wins then I'm down with that. Not everyone can get Serong Brayshaw numbers!

The other thing to factor in with Sharps game on the weekend, is who was his opponent ?. If his opponent did b all, then Sharp did his job.

From watching the games live, I've seen Sharp run up and down his wing, week in, week out. At times his hard work seems to be ignored and stands out like a beacon on his side of the ground. To me, he is doing his job, stats aint everything.

I have Toby Whan lined up to take over his role next year. (Hopefully we don't offer him a 4 + year contract)

Him or maybe NOD could do it, but I wouldn't mind drafting a replacement as well it would probably be a waste of Whan's and NOD's talents to be stuck out on the wing.

Sharp and Switta are the two weak points of our best 22, that we need to find a way to upgrade.

He’s not in the team to be a long distant runner it doesn’t win games. He butchers the ball with his lack of vision just blasting into the forward line or taking shots when better options exist. Just doesn’t get enough of the ball. Swap for Noddy
