Would you give Charlie a week to get over things, and give someone else a chance? Coleman or Bundy?
I would like to see Cox up forward with Ah Chee.

Cox looked very good in the NEAFL grand final last year, hunting the ball and opposition, laying some strong tackles.

And I noticed he appeared much happier and outgoing at training, once Ah Chee arrived at the club.

Once again you didn't bother reading any previous posts to get any context on what people were talking about.
Last reply from me you obviously can't bother to look.
Most people read a book from the front not start near the end.
I read the thread starting from the first one and then in order all the way through to this one. You think for some reason I skipped to the 6th page decided to comment? If you want to blame context for a silly comment then so be it. Im going to move on.

Starc was also the nearest to Bont's mark and goal, though I couldn't tell for certain if he was manning him beforehand. Not the best game, but he's already had a better year than expected so I'll cut him some slack.
Can see hodgey pulling him aside this week and giving him a few words of advise! I can see hodgey playing a massive role in the development of Starc!

I’ve never thought of the term mongrel, when discussing Lester.

High footy IQ definitely. Plays within himself. Puts his body on the line. Does all the small and selfless things, i.e 1%’ers. Is very accountable.
Does most things right. His main weakness is leg speed

He’s turned himself into a very classy version of the “junk yard dog”. In games he closes play down by taking possession when he knows he is going to get crunched just to force a stoppage. He does it time and again. He is also a great tackler. Check out his tackle in the first quarter against Adelaide and there is the great grab he took in the last quarter. There is so much to like about Ryan Lester.

Cox hasn't been named in the emergencies all year. I'm sure why people are repeatedly calling for his inclusion. Seems pretty clear he's not close to selection.

Emergencies so far this year:

  • R1: Robertson, Lester, Ballenden, Coleman
  • R2: Skinner, Hinge, Ellis-Yolmen, Answerth
  • R3: Coleman, Skinner, Ellis-Yolmen, Answerth
  • R4: Hinge, Witherden, Ballenden, T.Berry
  • R5: Skinner, Hinge, Witherden, Mathieson
  • R6: Skinner, Witherden, Mathieson, Answerth
  • R7: Robertson, Skinner, Witherden, Mathieson
  • R8: Coleman, Witherden, Mathieson, Ballenden
  • R9: Coleman, Hinge, Mathieson, Payne
  • R10: Coleman, Hinge, Mathieson, Eagles
  • R11: Coleman, Skinner, Lester, Mathieson

I reckon in a 100m race between Lester and Witherden, I’d have the house on Lester to win it. Any other distances, the greater the distance the more Lester wins by.

What are you on about Brett?

My original post was in reply to another poster quoting a "Sam Edmund" Tweet. He is Chief Sports Reporter for SEN

If you don't want to bother going back and looking below is his Tweet

So maybe jonnobackpocket and yourself need to read a few previous posts before jumping on me

"Brisbane Lions very confident Charlie Cameron will be fine with that hyper-extended knee, to the point he might not even be scanned today. No plans to rest the match-winning forward either - should he be fit - despite facing lowly North Melbourne on Saturday."
Okay just double down when you’re wrong. The fact was he was sent for scans and you were wrong but that’s okay.

I guess I’ll go with what the club says and not a 3rd rate journo 👍

Looks like Coleman and Mathieson would be in the selectors minds ?

At the time the tweet was posted, the club had not said anything. It would be terribly strange if it was accurate and worth commenting on that. Later the club provided the accurate information, which makes a lot more sense. I don't think it's worth bashing someone for commenting on something that's a bit weird, just because later information clarified it.

Pretty sure I’m the only people on here.

No, there are others. Not just this week but previous weeks also. While i realise this is not a prediction thread, it's still nice to have some reality.

It doesn't matter how well or how poorly we play someone is always calling for certain players to be dropped. And others who should have been out there.

With 22 players in a team someone has to be in the 'worst' 4 or 5 on any given day.

It doesn't mean they're not worth their place in the team or anyone else could do better.

From those who haven't played a game Mathieson and Coleman named six times each, and hinge five times. Poor buggers must be going nuts - so close, but no cigar.

That’s a very good point. I suppose the issue for any player and what makes some supporters impatient, is when the same player is regularly or consecutively in the lowest ranked 4 or 5 players. I think that it is healthy when there is strong competition for spots in the side.

Can't quite understand the rush to remove CEY for Matho. He hasn't been outstanding but gets to all the right places, is a tower to try and tackle and probably just needs an extended run to get into form. If it's one area the more mature teams monster us in it's big bodies.
Depends on how you look at it.
Matho gets a run of games he could offer more than CEY .
He stepped up at the latter part of 2018 and continued that level into last year.
Just think he is more capable with goal assists, getting involved with handball chains and hitting the scoreboard.
He's come a long way since his throw the head back free kick penalty days.
And yes I was the guy that said stop putting games into this guy, and something like we won't improve until then.
Mind you haven't seen him this year so who knows.
Possibly CEY is better at the coal face , but is that to the detriment of Bez.
Kind of looks like Fages wants Bez more outside, so who knows, still maybe Matho could do more coalface work than what he's done in the past and as I say imo offers more.

CEY rotates as a tall marking, drop protecting fwd which Matho and Ely can't do. At the start of the season he was dropped immediately and knows what's expected. I suspect he would benefit from the extra rest and wouldn't want to be near him as an opposition player.
