I don't know, Brodie was really poor today in the WAFL to the point where it felt like they just dumped him in the forward line where he was not only not accountable but his kicking and delivery was poor. I know he is younger but (if O'Meara does get suspended) I would much rather Erasmus who actually worked hard around the contest and was solid with his disposal.

No, he did not play "nearly a full game". He played 43% TOG. He had 5 possessions, which is bugger all. But good luck trying to get the ball as a forward in such a high pressure slug fest. Half the time Sturt had the ball he was instantly monstered in a tackle. Fritsch had 12 posessions in 91% TOG. Schultz had 10 possessions in 85% TOG. Pickett had 11 in 84% TOG. They are all much better players with much more experience, but it's about the same involvement for the minutes on the ground. Yeah they kicked some goals, but if Sturt played twice as long and got 10 touches, then he might have snagged one as well. Doesn't help that he got burnt a few times when he was open inside 50.

We can't carry Sturt having such little impact, but at the same time the only way he will have more impact is if he plays more in order to get used to the tempo and team. It's a problem that can't really be solved, as he is clearly not going to be in the 22 unless there are multiple injuries.

I seriously hope we dont muck around with the structure that has done us so well over the last four rounds.
Ie a Traditional big knock ruckman, two natural key position forwards and a “resting ruckman” alternating with a small.

If Darcy goes down, then we dont rob Peter to pay Paul and ruin our forward structure by taking Treacy out to assist as the second ruck. Keep him where he is for the whole year and let him gel with Jye.

Keep the Unicorn as second ruck, ruck rover and resting forward and let him grow into that role that he has excelled at over the last month.

Simply bring in a replacement for Darcy for one or two weeks ie a primary ruckman and maintain our structure.

Why did we select Reidy if not to use in this exact scenario??

Im still haunted by our past errors in using Tabs as a ruck and then having zero structure forward of the ball.

Treacy's rucking was probably an underrated part of our win in that he was rucking against the competitions most experienced and accomplished ruck combination and Melbourne wasnt able to dominate clearances when he was in there.

Darcy for Kuek definitely can play Jacksons role as the other tall forward and him and treacy can back up Jackson when he needs a break. Sturt needs to come out and bring walters back. Can’t have too many taller types and that was the problem against Melbourne.

I agree that if we want to play finals it is not ideal carrying Sturt (or anyone) with low output but Sturt is miles ahead of the next best small/medium forward so we don't really have a choice anyway. I flat out reject the notion of playing Johnson or Erasmus there given they don't play there at Peel (and Ras is too slow anyway).

And given the effort and defensive stuff seems to be there, I think if he got 10-12 looks at it this year he'd start contributing. Lets not pretend that all of the current smalls/medium forwards were they player they are now from the start. Most of the them looked as or considerably more hopeless than he does. Schultz and Switta were around the same age when they debuted as well. Even Banners was 20 odd and had played that season in the middle before moving forward.

For the Tigers though, Walters is an obvious in so it will tell you a lot about how they rate Kuek I think as the 3 talls is definitely working for us.

We literally just knocked off Melbourne in one of the highest pressure games of the year with Treacy giving LJ a chop out occasionally.

Just keep that going with Walters in Sturts role if he’s good to go.

I would go Erasmus in for Darcy. Jackson as first ruck, Treacy as second ruck and forward, Fyfe as a roaming chf, and Erasmus to midfield, with a bit of forward time. That sort of gives us the same structure we have been working with successfully.

If Sonny is fit, I hate to say this, I would go Sonny in Drizzy out and Freddie to the wing. I am a Drizzy fan, but he is not doing enough at the moment.

He had 36 hit outs and no marks, 9 disposals at Peel.

So it sounds like it depends on whether they want someone to ruck 80% to come in or to use Jackson there.

I feel like against the Tigers, Jackson’s follow up will be really effective, that extra bit of pressure and run around the footy is a good counterweight to their game style, where as we could win the hit outs and get beaten at ground level potentially otherwise.

I want us to bring Kuek in, though aggregating that level of X factor up forward may have some sort of destabilising effect at an atomic level leading to a black hole being created which sucks the earth in.

That’s a lot of responsibility for match committee to consider, but it’s a risk I’m willing to take.

TBH after performances like yesterday, he is doing a pretty good job of writing himself off. If that were some others on our list, half the board would be writing "delist now".
I think Corbett would offer more at this stage as a forward/sub.
