Or not surprised given a week off.Unchanged means no JOM, which is great.
Otherwise whatever, surprised with the bye the wasn't even one change.

Interesting that one.Not sure how I feel about no duds, but like that we havnt just brought guys like JOM back straight away, make them earn it.
I'd be surprised if either got rested to be honest, only if they pull up sore.Interesting that one.
Have always said it’s hard to have Switkowsi, Reid and Dudley in the same team. It’s too small and teams can float off them knowing they won’t compete when ball is in the air.
I’d imagine perhaps Reid gets this week and a rest v Essendon? Or perhaps Switkowsi.
Very weird.I'd be surprised if either got rested to be honest, only if they pull up sore.
The bye before a 5 day break is poor timing really, because you don't want to give players too long a rest
Yeah JOM is temu Serong these days and we have proper Serong alreadyThat's my point. He was putting up numbers, but the midfield's performance suffered. The only game he played inside mid this season where we won the midfield battle was Richmond. And even that, they were beating us in there for the 1st half.
With him out of there, the only midfield battles we've lost this season were the hiding against St Kilda (no Ras fwiw) and probably Gold Coast (elite midfield away from home). We're a better inside midfield unit without him, something the past 2 years should've already proved. He's just too similar to Serong and Brayshaw for me.

Sorry but that is a bullshit conclusion to make. You cannot assert that the rest of the midfield performed poorly because JOM was playing. It is impossible to isolate all variables and make such a conclusion. That's my point. He was putting up numbers, but the midfield's performance suffered. First 2 games this season JOM was effectively playing inside as the skinny side wingman or in the centre.JOM only had one game in his five where he had more than 50% centre bounce attendance and of the four, three were less than 40% (Richmond his CBA was 33% He was on the wing against the tiges). He was mostly playing outside. He was essentially full time against Sydney only (he was injured just after half time against Melbourne). You can't really blame him for losing the clearances against the Swans, he team high possessions and equal team high clearances.
I prefer him in the team for the experience and because unlike Ras he is actually effective playing outside. If the brains trust think he can make it as genuine inside mid (and I'm on record thinking it more unlikely than likely) however, then we really need to fit him in somehow.
Probably Fyfe againMost likely to be sub?
If it was only this season I'd agree to some extent. On a small sample size on-off numbers can be unreliable.Sorry but that is a bullshit conclusion to make. JOM performed his role, that is all that can be concluded. The debate can only be about structure and performance of role. Stating other players didn't perform their role because JOM was there is absurd.
No NOD is interesting.Just checked the emergencies with Darcy a no-show at training.
Dudley, Aish & O’Mac.
Captains run and Peel selection going to be very interesting now.
Mmm fair enough. I prefer our mix with Erasmus as well.If it was only this season I'd agree to some extent. On a small sample size on-off numbers can be unreliable.
This has been a pattern for going into 3 seasons now.
By now it's undeniable. We have a big enough sample size. Put bigger bodies or speed alongside Serong and Brayshaw and you've got something. If you wanna be mid or worse, put JOM there.
- In 2022 (year before JOM), we're 3rd for clearance differential, but only 12th for centre clearance differential.
- In 2023, we were 11th in clearance differential, 10th for centre clearance differential. JOM either missed or was below 40% CBA in 7 games, on average +0.1 in clearance (puts us up a couple spots) and +2 in centre clearance (puts us up to 3rd).
- In 2024 JOM attends 24 centre bounces all season, for all intents and purposes he's a winger. We are 1st in clearance and centre clearance differential.
- This year, I'm including all JOM vs non-JOM games (if I rub out the lower centre bounce games in Richmond and Geelong, it's even worse for him coz those games the numbers are better). The difference btwn the JOM and non-JOM games is about 13th vs 7th in clearance and 12th vs 2nd at centre clearance.
We should be alright, Margetts retired a few years ago.Prepare for Darling to get his obligatory three frees for blocking/holiding in Q1.
