Watching 2012 hawks/crows prelim on fox. Reckon that was Tippetts best game of his career lol.

The only way Hawthorn could beat us is if we fail to defend across the ground and allow a heap of short kicks and uncontested marks...and we've selected just the team to allow it to happen.

I'm hopeful our superior talent will get the win despite the selections.

Beech is fairly and squarely on the chopping block next week unless he has a phenomenal game tomorrow...Otten seems untouchable.
Otten is hitting the scoreboard!

Pyke was lauding Otten for his flexibility at the presser but he's like an allrounder that shouldn't be in your top 6 bats or top 4 bowlers.

A 22 including Jenkins, McGovern, Beech has easily enough flexilibity.

I'd add that Cheney prob can flex up a bit more than Kelly as required down back also so that change would cover our bases even more if a tall defender went down.

I can see the sense in having flexibility but atm it puts extra pressure on our runners. What if a key mid goes down? If we start at -1 for running players, we haven't got much in reserve before we conk out early.

Maple syrup and I'm sold.

As for the game, yep you're right and if Mitch has another solid day he must come in. If either Beech or Otten make way it makes us more mobile, but barring a brilliant effort from Jono I'd like to see both out. Or Harto if he puts in another shocker.
I'd like to see beech developed as our tagger for Selwood , at least give him a shot at it

Geelong too big for us around the ball and in the air across midfield

I'm not necessarily sure about the tagger bit (what's his engine like?) but I'm surprised at the amount of people that bemoan our midfield being beaten against the tough, bigger mids of Geelong and Melbourne yet don't really see Beech as best 22 material.

The only thing he really lacks is top end pace and a pretty kick (and we know all too well that a 'pretty' kick might cost $400k but achieves sweet FA).

If we select the team right there is plenty of top end pace...that's covered by Cameron, Milera, Smith, Gov, Seed/Knight, while players like Atkins, BC, Betts, Douglas aren't slow.

But when the heat is on, and Sloane getting the rough end of the pineapple, we do need some big, tough bodies that will compete like animals and get things back on our terms. We have the Crouch boys and Greenwood. We need another player that can support and pinch hit through the middle (without being a defensive liability)...Beech can be that additional 5th mature body we need rotating through to smash in and ensure Dangerfield/Selwood/Selwood/Duncan/Guthrie or Viney/Jones/Oliver/Petracca/Lewis don't get it all their own way.

Are there lockers OUTSIDE of Adelaide Oval I can access?

Adelaide Casino has a free cloakroom where you can check in a bag (or maybe just free for members of whatever that Skycity pokie club is, but that's free to join). I used it often back in my uni days when I needed to take a change of clothes for work or whatever.

Ugh that choke by Buddy that results in his free kick...the rage is returning!
The throw call against Brodie Smith from the umpire 50 metres away, Luke Thompson holding up the ball to indicate he's not taking advantage "nah, screw you, you're getting it" says the umpire and LT instantly gets tackled. I get massively PO'd just thinking about it!

Every time we play Hawthorn we get absolutely reamed. But that game was the biggest reaming I've ever seen.

Remember which game? roughly which quarter?
I may be mis-remembering, but I thought it was last year or the year before and he was in the defensive 50, or possibly in the defensive goal square when it happened.

I may be mixing a number of Mackay incidents together though, probably due to my mind blocking them from my memory as a form of self-preservation. :D

Engine is exceptional mate , add that to his size and maturity as a player and seems a guy that could play a good run with role on bigger contested mids

To me it's a no brainer for him to be the guy they try in that role
