*Takes sponsors hat off* :tophat:

There is only one blatantly obvious change which needs to be made and that is Lecras omission. I don't see how Simpson could possibly front up to the camera yet again come selection time to defend an ageing forward who simply cannot kick goals.

"He's a champion player, we're going to back him in...." **** off mate.

He hasn't kicked a goal since round 7 vs Port. Karpany kicked more goals in his one game, than Lecras has in the last four. Ridiculous.

Watching Lecras body language after the game talking to Shuey, while he gave the footy to the kids in the crowd, he knows that he isn't playing well. He just looked like he was spent. I think after a win like that most players are exhausted but you can see they are upbeat. He wasn't

Adding to that he still looked like he was being super nice to the kid in the crowd, basically I still think he is a champion of the club but he is just cooked. Probably hasn't been dropped because I think he is doing everything asked of him except it isn't translating into on field performance and form.

Thought EMac did enough last night to stay in the team.

Out: Lecras/Nelson/Cripps

In: Kennedy?/Partington/Hill

You'd have to imagine with Hill being dropped this week it would have been mentioned that LeCras should be looking for a big impact. I imagine he was feeling he didn't live up to his part of the bargain.

I watched him closely last night and there were 2 passages of play that epitomised where he is at in his career.

1. 3rd quarter running in from right wing, gets to half forward and doesn't want to run any more. The smart money was to keep running and make sure of it (we needed a steadier then) or alternatively there was a WC forward running to the goal square and Lecras should have communicated for him to give an alternative. Ended up a lazy kick wide from 40m for another point.

2. Midway through the 4th, there was a kick in for Geelong from a point. He was alongside his player who then went deeper to offer a lead. LeCras did not want to chase so pointed and shouted for someone to cover up for him. Good news was that the other Eagle was busy with another player so Mark reluctantly gave a token chase.

How many chances will Simpson give him. I do not get the "gotta back him in" business. Keep doing that, you end up driving in reverse.

A lot of things to happen from here before things crystallise. Does Shuey go or get off? Where is JJK really at with the calf?

Assuming Shuedawg goes and Kennedy needs another week...

Out: Shuey (Susp), Nelson (Inj), LeCras (Omit)

In: Redden, Wellingham, Karpany

B: Hurn Schofield Shep
HB: Cole Barrass Wellingham
C: Gaff Priddis Duggan
HF: Jetta Darling Karpany
FF: Petrie McGovern Cripps
R: Vardy Sheed Yeo

I: Redden, Hutchings, McKenzie, Mitchell

3rd quarter running in from right wing, gets to half forward and doesn't want to run any more.
A lot of things went wrong for LeCras on that play:
1. When LeCras received the ball just forward of centre wing he didn't run hard enough to make distance so that he himself was goal-scoring threat.
2. The passing options (Yeo and Petrie) ran inline, and would have been easily covered if the pass was made, and also were not far enough ahead to make the kick to the goal square.
3. LeCras elected to slow down, hoping to draw a man. Problem was he was 60m from goal there and the two Geelong defenders smartly knew the pass was the more dangerous option than a 60m shot.
4. At the same time Yeo finally realised he was running inline and slowed down to allow the square pass. Because of the timing of LeCras slow down this also allowed the defender an easy cover for that pass.
5. Petrie couldn't get distance on his man, so LeCras was left with one option, take the shot.
6. LeCras then didn't steady and run at the goals, and continued his path deeper into the poclet, so instead of a straight kick he had to hook it.

Three things combined there to **** everything up, for all his athletic gifts Yeo is not a smart footballer, Petrie is not fast, and LeCras is woefully out of form.

Bloke behind me summed it up: "DON'T KICK IT.... YEEEEEEAAAAAAAA-ooooohhhhh."

IF Nelson injured and Shuey out with MRP and JK wont be ready for another week i dare say!

Out: Nelson, Shuey, Schofield, Lecra
In: Wellingham, Partington, Lycett, Karpany

- Drop a tall down back because i don't think it will work every time and with Lycett back i think we will put Gov down back. They have Weiterman ( 195cm) Watts ( 196) and resting ruckman in Spencer and Spederson. So a backline of Gov , Barrass and Emac should get the job done. We also have to watch out for their smalls like Garlett so Wellingham and Cole to play on them.

- Lecra looks cooked so either we rest him or just drop him to WAFL. Simmo made it seem like he was giving some players a last chance to back it up this week and he clearly was not up to the task. Legend of a player but game is passing him quick like it did with Embers and Coxy. Could bring Hill in for Lecra but i want us to get some games into Karpany.

Wellingham Emac Barrass
Hurn Gov Yeo

Partington Sheed Gaff

Karpany Lycett Darling
Cripps Petrie Jetta

Ruck: Vardy Mitchell Duggan

Bench: Cole Hutchings Shep priddis

A few other things i noticed about Lecras poor game :crossmark:

That inside 50 delivery to Darling (which ended up in Vardy setting up the Duggan goal) was atrocious and lucky it wasn't turned over. He had a player to his right, and a long kick to Darling on his left, and he pretty much split the difference to the cats player. Lucky to score from such a poor i50 entry.

Another depressing sign of his age was when he collected the loose ball in the pocket and obviously thought he was completely in the clear but was absolutely wrapped up and ragdolled over the boundary line by the Cats player who closed the space quickly. The look on his face when this happened was pure astonishment. No awareness whatsoever :eyes:

He just looks too slow to be playing at the top level right now. Physically, and mentally with his decision making :brokenheart:

I lost it at that play as that would have given us a handy buffer at 3qt. But at 3qt i realised that if one of those players were jk or JD, we would have neded up having a set shot inside 50 as both turn around and lead at the ball carrier and create some seperation from their opponent.

Ideally-
In: Wellingham, Partington, Partington, Kennedy, Hill/Karpany
Out: Nelson, Shuey, Schofield, Petrie, Lecras

Partington should have debuted already but naming him twice next week to make up for it probably isn't the answer :D

4 talls is why we won simmo is a genuis.

Keep 4 kpd

No change is ideal. Don't change a winning formula. Lets make JK wait another week.

Actually agree with this, I think it might of been a masterstroke. Geelongs kick out from defence were gobbled up as we were able to get more talls to the contest. At worst it was intercepted on our d50 and rebounded through the middle.

IN - Karpany, Kennedy, Hill & Wellingham

OUT - Cripps, EMac, LeCras & Nelson (inj)

- Redden for Shuey if the MRP are c*****

Out:
LeCras (form), Petrie (unlucky), Nelson (inj), Shuey (susp?)

In:
Hill/Karpany (depending on WAFL form), Kennedy (if right to go), Wellingham, Partington

Maybe he read the twitter comments about him before the game

We shouldn't make to many changes but would like to see Mackenzie out for Lycet then Gov down back, Crips out for JK, Cole out for Sharrod, Lecca out for Hill and I know this wont happen but Pridda out for Partington.

His last call up came off a 29 and 2 for East Perth, I think we've been pretty fair to him.
The biggest issue is that his role from WAFL to AFL is completely different. At WAFL he is able to play as an on baller (which he has done well through out his career) but in the seniors he is forced to play HFF/wing/defensive mid and is only sed as a rotation on ball and that mostly as a blocker.

Did you even watch the game. Cole had a very good game (stats may not show it) but his pressure, tackling and skill were excellent for a third game in a pressure cooker environment. Plus nelson is injured.
