I think the point is:

Yes, Lecras is on the way down, injured or not

No need for the abuse being directed at him on here. The bloke IS a club legend, I think we can all say Lecras out without implying he doesn't give a shit about the club, just in it for money, heart pull crap. Think he has earnt that exemption IMO

I think Lecras has been a great player. However when a player has gone past their best and are continually being backed in at the selection table when they can no longer to deliver the goods, then they unfortunately start to undermine their standing in the game and at the club. It is not limited to West Coast but this is a classic example where the writing was on the wall in 2016 and lack of action has meant frustration.

From what we have seen, I strongly refute your claim that "Lecras is 10x the player like Karpany will ever be .... ". I believe on recent form that Karpany is now a better prospect than Lecras. A sign of a true champion is to know when to call time.
Lecras is still contracted, he is entitled to put his hand up for selection. At the end of the day it is the MC who decides if he plays or not.
As for a sign of a true champion is to know when to call time, that's pure nonsense.

Agree. Lots of players don't know when their time is up and as it is their livelihood, you can't really blame them for hanging on until the end if they still have the desire. It is the club's job to determine this unless the player has lost the desire, in which case the onus is also on them.

Sounds like simmo for a bit antsy over Lecras
Will be interesting to watch this over the rest of the season. Is it that we are missing what he does or is it that we are disappointed in what he doesn't do. I admit that I in the second camp. The match committee have taken a long time to address form slumps and hence the frustration.

Lecras is a gun player , lacks pace which I never noticed earlier in his career so slowing down .
Supporter base of clubs seem to turn on players easily these days , AFL being a business doesn't help though .

A loyal supporter doesn't turn on players regardless of the situation other then the hour or two immediately after the game and even that is unacceptable .

Edit
Good changes this week , Karpany and Hill both have good pace and skill which is a key ingredient that we need

Ok ... Solid sauce.

Looking at his body language from the Geelong game I think he's been genuinely hampered by injury the past few weeks, thus his drop in form. I think he's actually given it everything he has (especially once JK went down), he probably felt an added responsibility to push through the injury and show some leadership in the forward line, just physically he couldn't play at his best and his body's probably hurting extremely now. Should probably be giving him more credit for playing through the pain than we have, everyone being a bit hard on him i think, myself included.

I'd say he's put his hand up to step down now after realising he can't physically compete at his optimum level and he probably thinks there's a younger player that can have a turn and come in and step it up, an action which should also be respected i think.
I was 100% spot on http://m.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-23/hip-problem-to-sideline-lecras-for-several-weeks

Meh. No one is abusing him. We might say that any other player out of form is useless, shithouse, selfish, unco, soft, etc. But that happens every single day when we talk footy. Doesn't equate to actual real life abuse.

Who gives a shit what we say on here anyway, it's all just banter, melting or over-analysis.

If LeCras had converted even just 2 or 3 of his chances the last couple weeks he'd be looking a bit better to the armchair viewers, his workrate and pushing his body as hard as he can is still there, so i guess in that regard he is not being recognised for what he's actually doing, which is probably why the MC let him carry on for a couple weeks as they DID see how hard he was working.

So every one is creaming their jeans that LeCras is out, i can see why, he is obviously hampered by his injury.... What baffles me is why are people banging on like Hill is our savior? Hill has done sweet f**k all since coming to the eagles apart from one Derby match. even this year, compare hill's average stats to leccas in 2017:

possessions marks goals tackles

J.Hill 12.4 3.3 1.4 2.4
Lecca 14.2 4.4 1.6 2.3

Lecca is carrying a hip injury since the Port game, what is Hill's excuse? none, these are close to Hill's career averages.

People are just happy that the match committee are dropping players that are not performing. Hill often gets dropped after one bad game, Le Cras was terrible for much of last year but wasn't dropped once.

It's refreshing to know that the team isn't being hamstrung by loyalties to senior players ("club legends"), as that is the first step to generating a healthy internal competition for spots and signals a proactive approach to player development.

I don't think anyone would be too upset if Hill was delisted at the end of the year though.

I certainly wouldn't...

Glad Lecca is out, champ or not.
Love him and he's been great thats for sure.

I hope Hill watched last week and gets some campaigner in him and actually runs blokes down and tackles. Couple of freaky Hillyardz goals would be rad too while I have a shopping list going!

The difference you would see, if you ever attended a match, is that Hill puts in far more effort than LeCrab, who rarely chases and tries to kick the impossible goal at every opportunity, and rarely succeeds.

If Hill has a bad game, he gets dropped. LeCrab has been average, even below average, for quite a while now. It is overdue for him to be dropped and I have no desire to see him back in the team unless he is fully fit and played at least one game for East Perth.

They are hearing a Perth based Brownlow Medalist is a late withdrawal = Fyfe confirmed

With Karpany and Hill in for Lecras and Nelson is it likely that Hill might be used off the half back or on the wing with Karpany in the forward pocket?

My guess would be Duggan moves into a back flank to replace Nelson and Hill in for Lecras. Karps replaces Duggan and plays as a HFF/wingmen. karps isn't a deep forward but a HFF.

Duggan may play in Nelsons spot with Karpany playing of the HFF like Duggan has been for the last few weeks and Hill takes Leccas spot.
