No, you aren't.

Since Simmo has been at the Eagles we have given AFL debuts to significantly (20%) less players than the AFL average. Even the BODE's gave debuts to more players (36). So, yes, Simmo shoud play the kids more than he has.

Our 2018 year shows you can play some kids and still be competitive.

However, only a small portion of AFL players debut in the year they were drafted unless they are mature age. So no, Simmo shouldn't play developing KPPs that aren't yet physically developed enough to compete at AFL level.

Telling that the years we were over the average were also our grand final years - shows the new life and competition fresh faces can bring. Obviously this year has been a special case but even our best performance (against Collingwood) was off the back of some of that energy.

Honestly not too fussed about the ins and outs this week, more concerned about giving the keys to the car to players like West and Clark rather than keeping them in the backseat (West) or the boot (Clark) position wise. If they're going to be AFL mids let's see how they go in the guts and at centre bounces (and **** Gaff right off to a wing where we all know he belongs).

Geelong as much as I hate them were really good at doing this with the Parfitts, Kellys, Guthries etc - we would have persisted with Selwood and Dangerfield in the guts all game every game and broken them to pieces. Time to find some new roles for Gaff/Redden/Shuey away from centre stage, keep them fresh and put faith in our future leaders.

Problem with Sheed is that he is competing with Clark. West is just safe. While Clark has been down recently and Sheed has the ability to provide offensively, he is the complete opposite to clark in that he is a liability defensively. It's hilarious cause our midfield is in desperate need for mids that can get their hand on the ball but can also apply defensive pressure.

Jamieson is one I’d say is punching above his weight - he probably needs to be bigger and stronger but the positive signs are definitely there. By contrast I think we can all agree we want a bit more out of Bailey Williams, but I’m still quietly optimistic it will click eventually.
I think B. Williams ruck work has been steadily improving. Although he had a quiet game against Adelaide around the ground, it was probably the best he has gone in the ruck against a pretty solid opponent in O'Brien. He's only 22, talls take longer etc etc, and he has shown he can get into good positions and take a grab. Don't think he's a lost cause yet at all. Hopefully he continues to build.

The problem is he will always be undersized as a ruck and he can't kick in general but his set shot kicking is on par for worst in league. If it was williams, fyfe or casboult 40 metres out straight in front for my life........ I'd probably be picking casboult.

Don't think he is too undersized. He's listed as 201cm. Same height as Todd Goldstein for example , 2cm shorter than Sean Darcy. He has a much better jump on him than those guys. He's no Max Gawn, but doesn't have to be.

Agreed, his goal kicking is terrible at the moment. But if he works on it that's the sort of thing that he can improve dramatically. I think he's worth persisting with for now.

Simmo just trying to bump up the debut numbers for the year lmao.
Still another chance with Culley.
Trew, Joyce & Chesser the only other 3 yet to debut. Probably no chance for them.

Did you listen to his interview or just assuming that's what he's doing?

I never actually heard him suggest Bazzo was genuinely a look in for this week, but he did say we have a couple of guys they'd like to expose to the top level this year but they're trying to drive that on WAFL form first, not just gifting games for the sake of it - however in a year we're not contending they may not have to kick the door down to get a crack.

Sounds all fluffy and full of double speak. For those interested, I am lining up what was quoted from Simmo's press conference and what we know he really means.

What I would like

Gaff, Redden, Kelly, Shuey, Sheed and Yeo - only 4 or 5 spots for them and they are competing for them. Yeo misses out this week for getting suspended.

Clark, SPS, Jones, Hough and West get 4 spots

Ryan, Rioli, Petch and Cripps get 3 spots

Good wafl form is rewarded if the AFL performance isn't up to scratch they get dropped.

Realty is more likely to be credits in the bank
