So because Sturt was (arugably) better than those other forwards for one game then he deserves to stay in over them? Absolutely not.
Never heard the term “only as good as your last game” or “play yourself in, play yourself out”
He literally played a better game than 6 of his teammates but needs to dropped for Walters to come in?

Based on this logic, Sturt shouldn't have been playing against tigers. Corbett should of been given a chance

wouldnt mind seeing corbett in while darcy is still out, missed a marking target down the line once one of treacy/amiss had pushed up.

crazy people calling for henry to be dropped after nods utter stinker, id like to see henry in a game where our mids actually get on top, dont think hes had that yet this season

would like to shake up the backline as well, way too fumbly and loose on their opponents, not sure we have anyone to really swap out back there though. maybe worner? but i preferred walkers game to either of cox/pearce. draper was emg for one game wasnt he? not likely but could be an option
Henry played more game time and did less than O'Driscoll. Not even in terms of his disposal or anything, which was clearly better than NOD, but his chase and intent was so poor at times. Richmond players were running past him with so much ease. He can't just stand there and look pretty waiting for the ball to get to him, he needs to actually try and attack and defende it himself.

I don't think the backline was a big issue at all, apart from the terrible fumbling (which was our whole team because they can't play in the wet). The way richmond were moving it was impossible to defend. They would be coast to coast in two kicks. 3 goals from outside 50 from short is not gonna be Cox or Pearce or Ryan's fault.

What is their fault is choosing to spoil rather than mark. Cox and Clark especially. So many times they'd get up as the third man and spoil with both fists, in a way that could have easily been a mark.

His last game was pretty shit objectively. Nothing to write home about. 1 goal from 7 touches and 1 goal assist. If Banners put up those numbers as the third tall in a full game of footy everyone would be calling for him to be dropped.

i really have to disagree with that first bit tbh, NOD was unbelievably sloppy, hardly picked up a clean ball. so he might have gone into more contests than henry but that inevitably led to a turn over, he was shocking. both had similiar Pressure acts anyway

the backline constantly misjudging the ball and having zero impact on the contest allowing richmond to clean up the loose ball as they lay on the floor. just dumb defensive work. cox has been crap most of the year tbh, obviously so has pearce, not sure whats the difference between this season and last but it is worrying

I've only watched the first half of a replay last night but Sturt was actually very good in the first half, only lost one 1v1 too (alot of the talk here was him losing a lot of 1v1s)

The issue is he disappears in the second half, so I'm sure I'll see that happen when I get around to watching that part of the replay

Fwiw I thought Henry was good in the first half too, great pressure around the ball

Again tho, from memory he doesn't do much in the second half

Just to clarify, I also watched the game live, this is just the weekly replay

Erasmus is the future and should be best 22 more often than not from now on. Get him in.

Henry and Sturt might be but probably won't be from what I've seen. Happy for them to be given opportunities if similar players are injured but they shouldn't be prioritised when very different players are out injured/suspended. They're depth until they prove otherwise, which they haven't come close to doing yet imo.

I know Walters has to come in, but I don’t get why everybody wants to drop Sturt, he was better than Banfield, Frederick, Schultz and Switowski as a forward and better than Henry and Noddy in general play,
We shouldn't mess with a winning formula:

Banfield Walters Frederick
Jackson Amiss Treacy + Schultz

Our half forwards failed us against Richmond but they are definitely good enough to get the job done on a dry ground. I would make Sturt the sub so he keeps his spot.

By the end of the game Henry was positioning himself in between Richmond players, guarding space, pointing to team mates to pick up the loose player ahead of him then watching the ball go over his head to the loose player behind him
I think we are using Henry wrong, he should be waiting outside the contest and not in the contest. But then that raises the question of does his deficiencies outweigh his advantages as a player.

Liam Henry plays one poor game, first up after a stretch out - "get him out, hopeless, useless, too worried about his abs"

Bailey Banfield plays over a month of games this year and more last year much worse than Henry, NOD, Freddy or others did against Tigers - "he tries hard, obviously doing something right, must stay"

Mind blowing.

FWIW I wouldn't necessarily drop BB this week either as he had played himself in to some sort of form but the hypocrisy of his acolytes wanting guys turfed after 1 bad game when he's piled up plenty but been given a run to find form is hilarious mental gymnastics.

The big question is will Reidy get a run? Are there ruck lessons from losing stoppages to a side who are not a considered a clearance team?

I thought that's what we were doing.

Look, I'm not denying Banfield has had a good season up to this point, but he had an off game on Saturday night. No harm in giving him a rest in the WAFL for this week and regaining a bit of that early season form and confidence.

Come back next week ready and rearing to go against the Bombers.

End the Henry experiment, he will never make it at AFL level.

I’d rather see him stay and NOD go spend a month in the twos and maybe learn how to at least have a semi competent kick on his opposite side.

Regain early season form? His best form has been in the last month, prior to the bye, with arguably his best against melb and Geelong.

Its an interesting one isn't it. To me Jackson was a big part of us getting back in it and was influential around the ground and at stoppages once we started charging back. Having said that we were pantsed for the first 2.5qtrs at stoppages so the question is entirely valid. I too wonder what they'll do.

In the post-match JL mentioned they'd look at the balance and hinted towards bringing a more mature forward in. Now considering we have none of those I'm expecting Corbett to come in instead.
It’s a more realistic option than Reidy anyway. Corbett can hold a mark I don’t mind him he’s a better marking option than Banfield or Sturt

Aish injury hurts, had him for best on for Freo.

O’Meara > Aish
Walters > Banfield
Worner > Henry

If Darcy available, Worner starts as sub. If not back to full fitness throw Sebit a sub jumper. Would love to see what he can offer. Happy to stick with Sturt for one more game.
Well if Aish is out injured. I have no issues with Walters rotating in the wing and forward flank.

Switkowski, Schulz and Walters is a solid Combination of smalls.

Again.... I want Reidy in if Sean Darcy can't get up. Let him ruck 50 percent of the game and Luke Jackson ruck the other 50 percent of the game.

and just like that, out come the Banfield haters again
