Not sure the logic behind dropping someone who isn't AFL standard then suggesting bringing in Poulter who is also not AFL standard

Bring back Liam Jones (if fit).

Let’s not f**k around with backs such as Coffield and Gardner.

As sub who can play multiple positions and means we don’t use a debutant as a sub, is the logic. The cupboards pretty bare atm apart from debutants or non AFL standard players

IN - Darcy, JJ and Jacques if he plays well again.

OUT: Bramble, Gardner and McNeil.

Dolan in to the 22, Cleary moved to sub.

Can understand the concerns about Treloar, but calling him shot when he played well, got heaps of the ball and impacted the scoreboard in his last game is premature.

Wouldn't bring in Buss or Jones yet. We are too slow when playing there talls. W3 need more pace and better ball use down back.

Davidson covers more ground than almost anyone else on the team. Important for structure as much as we'd like to see more possession and impact.

In all my time following the dogs I cannot remember a bigger consistent game killer than Lachie McNeil. I reckon he is close to double figures in moments that have been game killers that is 10 or more games. Whether it be missed kickable goals fumbles or missed hitting targets with hand and foot at key moments. Last night's error takes the cake.

What is disappointing (other have said this before) is that the Hawks plan against us was obvious and predictable and we didn’t change our game to address it. They used heavy tackling pressure to put our slick game under pressure.

But what this shows is what will happen in finals a that a couple of our players are downhillers - when the heats is on VDM plays better and McNeil plays worse. Bramble just bombs the ball or freezes and gets caught - not trusting his speed.

Heavy pressure on the ball in the middle means bombed in kicks that favour their backline. We need more marking options forwards and that means Naughty must get out of FF and play as a CHF and a second marking option like Davidson needs to play forward - rotating with Bont. Eventually Hynes will play there.

So what should we do? - our game has strengths that rely on clean hands and speed but we need to have roles on the obvious players to negate the obvious.

For this last game - West in the middle to get firsthands on the ball Kennedy to Work over Newcombe - let the try and work this out because our guys that they were able to mitigate - Bont and Libba will then get free. St Kilda mids not as strong but we need to get this rotation to work so need to run this regularly - it will be needed on finals.

In big games play big game players - experience and good hands - this means Jones should have been in for Gardner - this also allows Lobb to move further up to intercept and JOD can play on a medium (played well on Gunston).

They choked Dale and an easy fix so may need to move Friejah or Trelor back to provide two attacking HB options if JJ is not back.

Buku as KPF is OK in VFL but not against an AFL key back but could be a menace as a third tall effectively replacing Flea - do the work leading out and jumping over people to get it to ground not intercept marked.

When Dolan comes on West goes to midfield.

JOD will coming along beautifully but if Jones can anchor he can be freed up to intercept mark.

FF: West Darcy Buku

HF: Davidson Naughton VDM

R: English Bont Libba

W: Williams Red Friejah

HB: JJ Lobb Dale

FB: JOD Jones Cleary

Int: Kennedy Sanders Trelor Harmes
Sub: Dolan

Ins: Darcy, JJ, Jones

Outs: Gardner, Bramble, McNeil

I like this but I'd much rather bring in some more speed/ground game at the expense of Gardner in defence.
Dolan also needs to start on ground if McNeil is out.

Out: Gardner, McNeil, Treloar, Cleary
In: Jones, Dolan, Darcy, Coffield.

We played one midfield too many last game, and our defence needs a rejig. Coffield and Jones have played well in the VFL, so they come in, Buku can swing back or forward depending on where we need him. Darcy back helps big time in the forward line.

Outs
Gardner - Backup only if injuries
McNeil - hard position to play yet struggles a lot
Treloar - Club should not have played him, never saw him run more the 60%. Looks gone to be honest. Pull him for another month and test him hard. I hope he can come back yet if he can't sprint at full pace needs to retire. Happens to all of us.
Clearly/Bramble - Maybe 1 to go out.

Ins - I'll wait too I watch the twos. Cupboard is bare though.

I would through Naughton behind the ball at CHB to get his confidence back. He is not even leading or demanding the ball at the moment.
He lead heaps, but looked like a young g Liam Jones with it going over his head. Timing is wrong or delivery is wrong

Out: Gardner, McNeil, Treloar, Cleary

Surely Jones over Gardener….surely an inanimate carbon rod over Gardener actually

You do notice though when our mids are down it makes the backline look really bad. He was on a hiding to nothing really

Dolan has to play smart, clean and knows where to be and where to put the ball

Gardner can’t see what more we will know about his abilities and I think this is his ceiling I say he needs to finish his career in VFL and only be used if we have no other option

Darcy if ready is in straight away

We must play Buss or Jones simple as that.

IN Darcy Dolan Buss/Jones and JJ

Out McNeil Gardner (both no brainer) Treloar needs a run at VFL for fitness and Bramble

Echoing many of the sentiments of other posters but McNeil and Gardner out is simply a non-negotiable, the pair went at 4 touches for 3 turnovers and 5 touches at 20% efficiency respectively.

Two of the worst performances I’ve seen from Bulldogs players in a long time. Real bash-your-head-against-the-wall stuff.

That turnover by McNeil was probably the worst I’ve seen since THAT Billy Gowers kick into the corridor vs the Suns in 2020. Ironically, he kicked it to Connor Budarick who we seem keen on bringing to the club.

Treloar won’t be playing VFL, he may miss being managed but won’t be playing for Footscray

Can somebody tell me how did Jaques and Sellwood play

I'm confused. Only a couple of days ago people were saying how stupid it was to reward good VFL form.
