Not even worth a melt. Its just such a "Bloody Bevo" thing to do and we seem stuck with it for 2 more years.

He's a good coach, and some of our issues are list related, but he's just f'ing blind to certain players flaws or else values things that I just don't or can't see.

Lost me at sympathy for Gardner

The guy is simply not up to AFL standard and is quite easily the worst player to have ever pulled on the RWB giving him games we may as well start handing out McDonalds awards to the player of the week again

He is nowhere near the worst. Nor the worst to play 50 games.

I feel bad talking about him and others like players anymore though, from everything I have heard, they are nice people. This’ll be my last post talking about them outside of match selection and game day if they are playing.

Wasn’t even in our bottom 3 players, but the previous bias comes out in the wash.

McNeil, Naughton, Treloar and Davidson as a start were all worse.

I agree Buss should be playing ahead of him at that stage, but it’s not like we lost the game because of him.

Fair to say he was not great and his sons are significantly better than their Dad.

He did play 31 games in an era where we won 2 games to finish second last and 3 games to 'win' the wooden spoon

cherrypie posted in the autopsy thread that only one of those goals was attributable to Gardner. I haven’t rewatched it (and won’t) but I’m prepared to believe him until shown otherwise.

Neither of us are fans or apologists for Gardy but in fairness to him and indeed to all players I think it’s important to set the facts straight.

McNeil and West were also net negatives on the night which could be your only reasoning

There is no way that previous bias contributed in this at all and it's a pretty disrespectful that that is the suggestion, just because Gardner is likely a nice guy and you want to see him do well

Had no positive impact on the game and his direct opponent was best on by a stretch. Had a 5 minute period in the second quarter where three poor Gardner efforts resulted in a goal and there was others throughout the game. Think you might be the one with bias

If it wasn't Mcneil it would've been Gardner. Unfortunately injuries mean these guys are going to get games.
