Think he needs some continuity.
He had good ‘continuity’ last season but got dropped not long after the finals type game against Collingwood where he had the worst umpiring decision of the year go against him with that beautiful run down tackle against Daicos 15 metres from goal. He was ‘dropped’ for the final, where his hardness was sorely missed. We actually owe Garcia a bit when it comes to selection. He is a massive improvement on a few in the team at the moment.

Thinking a week ahead, but is this one of the games Treloar will have to miss? 10 day break to the Richmond game, but then only a 5 day break to the Swans, think we need him more v Sydney.

JJ and Harmes straight in if fit. Garcia was good should get a bit of continuity in the VFL before coming in. I wouldn't play him but Poulter has kicked 7 in 2 weeks and could be a Bevo selection.

In: JJ, Harmes
Out: Bramble, Hynes. If Treloar is rested leave Hynes in.

Sub: Cleary
Emerg: Hynes Busslinger Dolan

What makes anybody think that Garcia will ever transition from being a classic tweener who is a bit to good for the VFL but hasn't really shown he can bring a consistent level to his game at the higher level? His issue is compounded by the fact that he is a clearance player in the style of Libba but with infinite worse disposal and game sense. Disposal that would see us tearing out our hair if he played as a small forward. The only way he has a substantial career with us is if we start to transition Libba out of the middle, but then Garcia runs into Freijah, Sanders, Hynes or other better equiped contenders for the role of taking over from the King. We are beginning to see this usurping taking place with Freijah in particular strategically taking more midfield time late in qtrs.

Garcia is fine as usuable depth. However I suspect that if a team came for him, we'd be happy to facilitate a move.

With a little adjustment. I could easily write a paragraph saying much the same about Caleb Poulter.

We need to look past these kind of guys when it comes to the subject of our best 22. Especially now that the list is as close to full strength as it's likely to be.

Hard to tell from the game last night. Disposal wasn’t a stand out but apart from a few early mistakes wasn’t bad.

The real plus with him was his competitiveness, seems to have a real hard edge.
From what you are saying and his first game everybody makes mistakes but once he showed his Competitiveness, and showed a real hard edge that's all we can excpect from him and that's a good positive sign. I thing it won't be long till he breaks through the lines . thank you for the up date

Garcia showed the form last night to indicate we just can't leave him out of the starting 23 for very long. Perhaps give him one or two more games in the VFL to get his fitness up to the required level and then make him the sub for his promotion game which would be ideal. After that, it's all about opportunities.

The issue with Garcia's game in the VFL is that he isn't doing any more than those better than him are currently doing in the senior side. The only player I could probably see making way for him is Treloar purely to regain confidence in his body but if ever there was a side to do that against it's the Tigers.

Screams steak knives in a trade at the end of the season to me, unfortunately.
His good games in the vfl are always as a mid. His likely shot in the firsts is as a small fwd. That’s his main issue.

Bring in Billy Gowers to kick a bag on these clowns

With a tricky 5-day break after this game in Sydney, I wouldn’t be surprised if they pull a couple of surprises - taking a 2-game approach rather than separate both games.
The fixture is dogshit.

Why do we have a 9 day break followed by a 5 day break? It makes zero sense.

We also played the Cats on a 5 day break before the bye when we were having the following week off.

Spot on. Unfortunately Garcia is a star VFL midfielder, but isn’t good enough as an AFL midfielder and doesn’t have enough tricks to make it in another position. Isn’t the first and won’t be the last. He might add something to a team like West Coast but he’s pure midfield depth for a decent team

Averaged 16 touches and 4 tackles across 12 games last year, good numbers for a pressure forward.

He’s another aggressive little nugget like West and I would have him in over McNeil every day of the week that ends with the letter y.

I'd keep Cooper Hynes in and give him a full game against Richmond (rather than 1 quarter in junk time as the sub). Give him a chance to lock down a spot in the short term.

If Harmes passes concussion protocols, I'd bring him in for Dolan. As much potential as Josh has, he hasn't quite done enough yet to be a fixture in the team.

As for JJ if he has recovered, he comes straight in. If Harmes is fit, he replaces Doan and JJ replaces Bramble or McNeil. If Harmes misses again, JJ for Dolan.

Not trying to upset anyone but I don’t see the attraction some on here have for Harmes. Seems an almost player to me. Yes he can do some ok things but can also go missing for periods and can miss some marks and targets. Not an automatic selection when available to me. Would be interested in what others see that he brings. Is it just that Bramble and McNeil are playing poorly atm

He should be a significant step up from McNeil as a pressure forward. He can find the goals and is aggressive in a Clay Smith way - recall he had a rough kicking action. His ability to run through the midfield and add some speed or tackling pressure if they are getting away is also valuable but the pressure of West and Garcia up forward would be fantastic. I think he is best 22.

(Assuming JUH and Flea unavailable)

West Darcy Khamis

Vandermeer Naughton Harmes

Davidson Richards Williams

English Bont Libba

Friejah Lobb Dale

JJ Jones JOD

Trelor Kennedy Sanders Garcia

Jones may be controversial but he had only a couple of average games and skills wise against a top tier full forwards

Yes both he and Poulter can be traded out however Garcia is better that what McNeill has to offer in my humble opinion and while we stay have him after resigning him we might as well use him as Mcneil’s replacement .

I'm not making any fuss at all out of this but i was reading with mid- season draftee michael sellwood playing his fisrt game back he apperently took 20 disposils 11intersept marks that's tells me something

and Garcia is a genuine mid, we need to show faith and give him a run at it
