As I said earlier in the week. I’m a Sturt defender. Wanted him in all last season. But I’m off it a bit. He kicked 2 on the weekend yes, but that doesn’t mean his game was great and he deserved to stay in.
Plus a lot has to do with team balance. How many medium/smalls you wanna play? He’s gotta be the first out.
That said, Freddie has never (in my recollection) played a good wet weather game. So Sturt over Freddie may have been smart
I dunno…I think the forward who kicked 2.2 out of 5.6 and laid the most tackles by anyone not named Brayshaw might deserve to keep his spot in that shit show but what do I know
No in the emergencies. Nor should he be. He has been horrible for two weeks.
O’Driscoll and Sturt have been named as emergencies alongside Josh Corbett and Karl Worner, with one of those four to be confirmed as the substitute an hour before bouncedown.
It's not about that it's about which team structure works the best it's not that hard to understand. JT, Amiss, Jackson as our talls is the most successful combination based on all of their respective attributes. Obviously the MC doesn't see Sturt as being able to fill in the role of a small forward and Frederick is simply a better player.
Walters is 2nd in our goal kicking, Schultz gives a lot even without the ball and is 3rd in our goal kicking, Switta can play in the midfield, and Freddy is 4th our goal kicking (3rd for averages). Not to mention all of those guys offer more around the ground than Sturt ever has. Sturt does not get a place over any of those guys.
Sturt is not perfect but his strength is his set shot goal kicking. Its a very good action and normally they go straight. So you would have put him down for 3-4 of those shots he generated on the weekend. Would he have been dropped if he kicked 4? The arguments from most on here suggest that he would have.
Sturt has to be gone.

Agree re Banners, hopefully it'll be Worner. He deserves a go and at home against a young opposition is a good time to give him one. He's also got a bit of versatility which is important as a sub.

Really hoping Erasmus gets some wing time and is told to shut down Martin, because Henry won’t be able to go with him.
Feels like we are still too small even with Darcy coming into the team. Henry, Switta Serong all 180cm or less running though the midfield worries me.
