Last week's performance 100 percent needs a heavy-handed response - not just the regulars in Darcy and/or Aish, Freddy returning.

Drop Pearce for Hamling, Serong stand-in captain. Didn't Coniglio get dropped from GWS a while back?

Worner in for Noddy is a given.

Kuek for Banfield. Erasmus starting.
Kuek, Treacy, Amiss, Jackson, Sturt. Great forward line to take into the wet.

Chuck in Hamling for either one of Cox or Pearce. See if he can still handle AFL level. I doubt he can but we can't really get much worse. Some of the efforts from Cox yesterday were putrid. He just stands there watching the ball. Embarrassing coming into the season with AA ambitions and pulling that shit every week.

Henry was good with ball yesterday but his contested work was shocking for mine. I'd drop him.

Out: Henry, Banfield, O'Driscoll
In: Darcy, Erasmus, Worner

If Freddie is fit he can be sub. He's not playing well enough to demand immediate selection.

Doesn't sound like Aish will play.

We’ve got 3 or 4 guys who are forwards that can’t make the distance from 45 metres out. Switta, shoota, Henry (not a forward, and sometimes Banners). Then there is Fyfe who you have no confidence in regardless.
I think Amiss just had a bad day yesterday.
Walters can’t kick that far either.
In fact, apart from Treacy, not many can kick a goal from 50 at all which is worrying.
100%. There’s no forwards punishing the opposition marking 40-50m out. Lacks any potency or ruthlessness.

Banfield should get a reprieve IF Darcy comes back and the same forward mix prior to the bye is back together.

I don't think it's worth discussing someone who's clearly getting dropped.
Hopefully Worner coming in is another certainty. He can also rotate off half back as well as the wing as hb is the position he's played the most at WAFL so I'd have Clark spending time on the wing too. If it's wet then they should bring Freddy back as a sub. He's not suited to the wet but his run could be handy late in the game. Drop Banfield, Henry, Sturt and O'Driscoll in my view. Then bring in Darcy, Worner, Aish and Erasmus into the 22. Then play Fyfe forward only and use Jackson, Erasmus and Johnson more in the middle with Brayshaw to spend time on a wing too. If Aish is not fit then bring in Wagner or Colyer to rotate wing even though neither play the role on a regular basis at WAFL level. We need another player outside of bringing in Worner who can rotate wing who runs hard defensively desperately or we'll be smashed on the outside again.

Funny thing was Port Adelaide dropped their captain Tom Jonas for a couple of weeks. Port keep winning.

We went from one of the worst midfields in the comp to one of the best for 4 weeks and now back to the worst, the ins and outs dont matter if the midfield gets thrashed.
It's weird, because I posted something interesting on the autopsy thread.

I don't know what was worse.

The lack of effort or how badly the turnovers were that ended up as GWS goals.

Lookin' back at last season, we usually trailed at half time by 1-2 goals , then kick a few in the 3rd and lead at 3 quarter time and held on to win.

What constitutes a great game? If 10-15 touches and a couple goals isn't good enough for a small forward to keep a b22 spot then you're setting really high standards. He played poorly vs Melbourne and Richmond, and should have been dropped anyway. But he played well vs Geelong. That's the last time he had a good game.
Ok, so Sturt stays in then.

I wish Longmuir would at least try players in different positions when things aren't working. Johnson rotating forward and having more ground time onball and forward rather than wing is in my opinion something worth trying and he can kick well over long distances obviously. I'd rather Erasmus and Johnson in the team for entire games playing half forward and rotating onball then having both spend most of the time on the wings as they are already good at winning contested football so having them playing outside roles doesn't suit their natural games. I'd also rather Fyfe played forward predominately.

Performance over time is generally a better predictor of future performance than what a player did or did not do last week.
Sturt is still well behind all others competing for the same role.

Do I actually see posts of Sturt out when he kicked nearly half of our goals?

Mind boggling
Hey Sturts dad, settle down.

If banners is omitted this week so be it. I'll accept whatever MC selects. Trust me, I won't behave and sulk like some of you carry on, when you don't get your way

So how is it when banners has a superb game, even more than Sturts on the weekend, theirs still some who think Sturt should of stayed in ..mindboggling isn't it.

Kicking half teams goal wasn't as great as you think it is lol

No one is arguing for Banfield to stay in over Sturt. I doubt you'll find a single person that thinks Banfield desreves to be in the team next week.
So obviously Sturt takes Banfield’s role in the structure that was working pre-bye, Jackson as forward who can play mid/ruck as well, Amiss as #1 target inside 50, Treacy as human wrecking ball, who also presents up the ground to be a link player and Banfield/Sturt who can play 3rd tall when needed but also medium leading forward to draw opponents away from Amiss. There’s absolutely no structural reason to drop Sturt if Banners is dropped regardless of if Frederick comes back or not.

Regardless of if Freddy comes back or not? So a forwardline of Treacy, Amiss, Sturt, Jackson, Walters, Frederick, Switta, Schultz. That's eight players.

Yep, that’s what we had pre bye, with Switta and Jackson spending plenty of time up the ground. As an added bonus, Sturt has spent minutes on the wing for peel before being called out the AFL squad, so could help cover for NOD if they dropped him and brought Erasmus into the team, Frederick has also spent some time on the wing so they could alternate if He’s fit as well

I think he’s more of a medium than a tall. He could be a point of difference from the small brigade? Assuming that Darcy is back in maybe it’s worth a shot to play him alongside Treacy, Amiss and Jackson. I don’t think that’s too tall and rain isn’t a foregone conclusion 7 days out.
With Fyfe it probably is, but I think treacy could go out.

That's not what we had pre-bye. Walters was injured pre-bye.
