Yeah but we've had that disclaimer a lot and I've seen Jackson take the piss against a lot of genuine rucks now when playing solo. I'm at the point with Jackson now where he basically annihilates the bottom 9 first rucks in the comp then gets coaches votes or stops the other bloke getting coaches votes against all bar Witts and Xerri who are just too big / physical for him.

He's also completely untagable when playing solo ruck, something which might become more and more important in the next few years.

I dont know, I just remember the games this year alone against Dogs (before injury), GWS, Port and Essendon and I think it's getting really hard to justify anything other than Jackson playing as the sole ruck 90% of the games
Correct, sure he's monstered the Visentini brothers, but he's also dominated against Briggs and English too... I think that unless he's up against Xerri, Witts or Max, he can just about account for all the rest.
I'm interested to see how he goes vs Marshall, who is a very good ruckman but less of a beast than the Xerri's and Witt's... also interested to see him vs TDK, as TDK is bigged up by all the Vic media as the best young ruckman, but I think Jacko is better than him.

This whole thing is so fingernail deep analysis

If we can afford them both just stick with current structure

Darcy has won our b&f before and is clearly invested in getting his body right finally
We can afford them both now, and given we aren't chasing Pickett anymore it's not necessarily urgent, but does continuing to pay for both cost us someone else in the future? It's a cost/benefit scenario... bear in mind we will need to extend Serong in two years. I expect that to be the biggest contract money wise Fremantle's ever offered anyone...

A few years ago Jackson and Marshall went head to head. Both had great games.

And quite rightly

I think Darcy, JOM and Dudley or OMac will be announced on the extended bench today.

JOM and Dudley/OMac to be named as emergencies tomorrow.

My tip for the final 23 will be:
In: Darcy
Out: Aish
Sub: Erasmus or Fyfe

Can’t see/ wouldn’t like to see Fyfe and Darcy in the 22. Make us too slow and probably not able to play enough minutes.
So how about Darcy in the 22 and Fyfe as sub?

I think Fyfe will be in the 22 this week and will get the job of helping out Serong/Brayshaw at stoppages. JLo won't want a repeat of the stoppage domination from the last match against St Kilda.

That's why I think Ras might be sub this week (perhaps even out altogether for JOM, but I hope that's not the selection).

AP, Switta and Young are walk up starts when declared fit. Dudley and Walker close to those 2..that is some team we might be turning out wk1 of finals.

Changes: Keeping them to 7 points at half time to show them how it feels.

North didn't score a single point from centre clearance that whole game. Every goal that North scored that quarter was off turnover. Xerri had 1 score involvement that whole quarter (a hitout against Jackson).

When you're that far off in your perceptions, you should probably reflect on your biases.
I didn’t say Jack shit about centre clearances … so we didn’t look sluggish defensivly with Darcy and Fyfe out there ?

maybe take some of your own advice

An interesting listen. Hopefully Serong and Brayshaw are looked after as well as Daicos.

PS - Serong and Brayshaw need to get on the move, to ensure the umpire sees the free kicks.

To be honest, I thought a lot of the Langdon v Daicos holding was actually Daicos locking Langdon's arms in. Langdon was just dangling his arms in front with minimal contact (which was a bit strange and dumb), and then Daicos with his expertise at drawing free kicks would grab onto Langdon's arms and have a sook.

Xerri averages 4.9 score involvements per game in 2025 with 4.3 score launches. Almost all of his involvement in scoring comes off a hitout or an intercept mark of which he averages 0.7 per game.

Against Fremantle he was:
-1.3 score launches (3)
-1.9 score involvements (3)

Same stat against WC. Back up to 4s again against Carlton. Zero involvement around the ground in moving the ball to goal outside of the ruck contest.

If your ruckman can average 5-7 score launches and 7-10 score involvements you're laughing.

Luke Jackson is 3.8 score launches, 6.8 score involvements.
Sean Darcy is 1.6 score launches, 2.1 score involvements.

You talked about "the Roos running off him in the middle". I gave literally every single feasible interpretation - scores from centre clearance, clearance in general, the ruck running out the back (English does this to Darcy a lot).

If we're not conceding from clearance and Xerri isn't doing anything around the ground (literally 0 disposals in the 4th), idk how you can possibly blame Darcy.
