Interesting... metal studs were always banned in any sport I played.

Seems the AFL doesn't really like them either.

Must say though I never really knew why they were banned or even cared enough to look into it even in the slightest. I just wanted to play so did what I was told - It would've been hard to get metal studs anyway though.
Some guys used to sharpen them up rubbing them on the bricks concrete

Bloody nasty when you got sprigged or trodden on

I don't know why, but they always do this for Sunday fixtures. Each club has to list their extended bench and the omissions are announced the following day. It's an AFL quirk but they've done it for a while now
Why.. do clubs even need to list teams? Is it for marketing or something?

I don’t see why the team has to be locked in days before you play. If a coach wants to leave the team decision until two minutes before the opening bounce, I say let them.

Media talking points, betting, fantasy footy / Supercoach and lastly just the players. The system is fine as is, it sucked during Covid when they started announcing teams just 24 hours before each game.

1. Betting markets
2. Betting markets
3. Betting markets
4. Keeping the AFL in the media
5. daylight
6. Fantasy football / tipping

I think all teams should be listed on Thursday, but only because I do fantasy football and late outs are a pain.

II. Understanding NBA Injury Reports

● The injury report will often include a player’s playing status, along with the part of the body that is injured. Players will be listed in one of the following ways:

  • Available
  • Probable
  • Questionable
  • Doubtful
  • Out

No idea, it's just what the AFL makes them do it appears

JOM in off one game.
No thanks.
I can’t see him getting a gig this week. No need for him anymore imo as the core players are all over the 100 games mark and the experience from JOM/Fyfe is no longer a requirement through the midfield. Young only a month away from returning and prefer to put games into Ras over JOM.

one of the big reasons we won in Sydney last time was the Fyfe tag / run with role.

We have average big body mid's (Johnson, Raz)

Maybe Omera will play that role, nullify and get some possessions back the other way

They aren’t average they are just young and hitting their straps.

I bet Erasmus, Johnson and O’Driscoll are a big part of our first premiership team.

JOM is on the plane.

That’s crazy if true.
Not the biggest fan of JOM, have to admit. But absolutely no consistency or form nor fitness yet gets selected. 1 game for Peel and he pulls up sore last week.
I get that Brodie isn’t preferred but he would be absolutely stiff to see this news. He’s going through concussion protocol, but has been playing consistent footy for two seasons now. Pretty obvious there’s favourites going on here

I hope also, but average is C+ / B type players. That's what they both are atm. I want them both to succeed especially Raz

Noddy a big fan of

Irrelevant anyway as there's a discussion to why Omera is back in

I'm pretty comfortable with JOM in. Clearly a better player than Fyfe currently, and he's not in at the expense of Ras (yet) so not sure there's a better option. He's a good kick, solid all round and if he doesn't take the spot of someone like Ras then I'm happy to have him in the side

Selection integrity is such a subjective topic though.

I want the match committee to be picking the team they think has the best chance to win, with WAFL form an input to that but hardly the only aspect given roles and the differences between the levels.

Would I have picked JOM? No.
Do I know what the selection committee does? Also no.

Does that mean they're playing favourites?
I mean everyone ultimately has biases, but just because we don't agree with their decision doesn't mean it must mean they have compromising photos, etc. etc.

If O'Meara has the ability to take Heeney out of the stoppages then good enough. He is their best clearance player and if the ruck doesn't let Grundy do what he likes in stoppages, there's the Swans two best clearance players out of the picture.

Trouble for Freo is that Serong is twice the output of the next best, so there's a target for them to clamp.

They've previously gone after Clark, and I'd personally be surprised if they didn't do similar again.
Rowbottom is probably the one they'd ask to do a more defensive role with Serong.

So biased against JOM. He was clearly a class above WAFL. Likely to be the sub anyway.

JOM sub is a safer bet than Fyfe sub. Which is essentially the change.
