8 on the extended bench? That’s not usual is it?
I don't know why, but they always do this for Sunday fixtures. Each club has to list their extended bench and the omissions are announced the following day. It's an AFL quirk but they've done it for a while now

Yeah I get all that. I just had it in my head that they only named a 7-man interchange. Don’t know why 🤔

That makes me so mad 🤬. What are they thinking? He might be ready to resume in normal conditions but a dodgy deck and we all know his history of leg injuries & breaks. Why risk it, don't they remember how we fell off a cliff after he & Treacy got injured last year?!
The need to win this game exceeds the injury risk our players face. Can't not play him because he might get injured.

I get this perspective, but at the same time we've gone okay filling his spot thus far and the Swans don't really have any tall fwds of note. IDK, maybe Freo peeps have seen the surface and don't think it's as much of a death trap as everyone says but it still scares the bejeezus out of me.

Win this and we have one of the most valuable things in AFL football -momentum and belief.

This is close to our best team of the year, Darcy is getting some form back and we're only missing Young and Switta. Exciting game ahead hopefully.

There was a similar concerns when we played the suns, if you go back through the ins and outs for that game

It came to nothing we had no injuries and played well.

The fact the game is played middle of the day will make a big difference - night games are always affected by dew...

fingers crossed no injuries and we get 4 points!!!

I understand why people are reluctant. We had an injury crisis late last season and now we're fearful of it happening again. But we can't let fear guide our decisions. Pearce is our captain and we need him out there.

So the extended squads are out and my goodness we are almost exactly the same height and weight on average - though we are significantly younger and less experienced on average.

Will update again if any significant changes after final teams announced.

Is also Shai's 150th, which I should have mentioned in my original preview...

Oh yeah, makes sense. Must just be that I haven’t been able to count all these years 🤦🏻‍♀️
You count fine, you just use that Imperial system instead of proper metric measurements... 🤣

Someone posted earlier that we go from something like a 60% chance to a 30% chance of making finals if we drop this one

I kind of agree

I’d play everyone who’s fit , we’re not done if we lose a player but we might be if we lose this game

Long as Pearce is fit of course I’d roll the dice on the surface

Are wet slow games really that much more dangerous than dry fast games anyway , speed of the collisions seems the most dangerous aspect of footy these days too me and there would have to be some plus and minus risk factor to the soft ground

Back Pearce. But JOM ? Concern is Dudley is underdone slightly and Darcy still on limited TOG%.
Would have loved Narkle, Aish or Walker in as they have proved their fitness

Smaller ground good for Darcy as that means less running? Allows him to have more TOG?

Shame Walker isn’t ready
