Never seen anything like it in the 30 years I've watched football. As soon as a player has the ball and been tackled it's getting called htb. Basically touch football at this point.
They don’t protect/reward the player that wins the ball anymore. It’s anathema to how footy should be played. Rant over.

Amiss being dropped is never going to happen. And nor should it. He does so much for our structure. People must have recency bias - yes it was a bad miss, but Amartey did the same thing a few minutes later. Amiss also slotted one from 50 on an angle.

No change. Maybe Switta for Raz is fit. Banfield to sub to have O'Meara's bigger body around the ball.

Switkowski comes in for Erasmus or Dudley.
Walker is a must for the defence.

Watch Sicily destroy us as per usual. Thrown up forward and Ryan capitulate.

I was looking at the timeline of scores on the AFL site after the game and there was mention in the last quarter Fremantle had kicked 9:1 from shots outside of 40m. It was more missing the ones closer to goal ones that contributed to the loss.

Lol it’s almost too evil …. even for me

Jye Amiss = Jack Anthony

I wouldn’t say it’s common but it happens more than people want to admit players burst out of the blocks and then never reach that standard again

Anthony looked like a superstar in his fist 2 years at the pies , similar type of player to Amiss as well

The worst kind of players too because you often overpay them based on their early form and end up with an overpaid list clogger

We’ve had a few @ Freo
Connor Blakley
Lachie Weller
Daniel Gilmore

Conversely players can start fast hit a flat spot for a couple of years and then re-ignite but accuracy aside Amiss’s inability to win a 1on1 contest deep even if he gets a mismatch is alarm bells for mine

Daniel Gilmores “flat spot” was Mark Johnson.

Can we play 5 talls?

I think it is one too many tall.

Ideally JOM comes into the best 22, Switta comes in if fit. Walker comes into the backline to add speed.

Banfield out for Walker.
One tall out of the JOM. (Either Darcy or Voss, I still like Amiss)
Dudley out for Switta - he still needs more fitness.

I don't mind Dudley as sub, or another quick player. I can't think of anyone else to make sub.

Nah he does way more than one good thing. He does about 15 good things and 10 bad things every match. The reason many of us are still so optimistic on Johnno is that his errors can easily be corrected.

Imagine if a coach actually said to him he wasnt allowed to break tackles and he had to give first option every time! That clanger count would go down from 10 to 2 overnight.

The real question is why hasnt he been given clear simple instructions to dispose the ball immediately?
yeah lets ask basically the one player in the team that can, to stop taking on the tackler and breaking lines. fmd

Despite all our shitness we had a chance to win the game in the 4th with some accurate goal kicking. The swans played very well the entire game.
It's why I'm not so concerned with the loss. Our midfield needs to get better as a collective to fight through the issues on game day. Not much leadership in there at the moment.

Expected score was Sydney 74 - Fremantle 84. Actual score was Sydney 94 - Fremantle 83. So we were about on par, but Sydney was unusually accurate for where their shots were taken. A discrepancy of +20 is pretty high.

Too tall, no pressure on oppo coming out of our forward line.
Sydney waltzed it out.
Drop Amiss, and make Treacy & Voss the forwards, with the resting rucks coming in at times.
Need smalls that ****ing tackle

Banners did a great job today.

Not saying he's perfect, but he has corrected many of his faults to still be considered the club goofball. His benefit as a utility and impact sub still has potential.

He could have done well to patch up the giant hole in the forward line but he was too busy patching up the giant hole in defense.
He was shit house. Multiple turn overs directly from his decisions. Whether it was fumbling or leaving his man to impact the contest then his man rebounds it 70m.

IMO, these are the players on the fringe of being in or out of the team.
Ins: Switkowski, Brodie, O’Mac, Narkle, Sharp, Walker, Draper
Outs: Erasmus, Dudley, Amiss, Cox, Pearce

But a special mention about Amiss. People suggesting he should get help from various former players maybe overlook that he would be getting advice from the coaches for the past 2 years - and it hasn’t worked. Posters have been saying for over a year, he’ll be right and find his form again -well it’s not happening. Why will going to Peel help? Because he won’t be in front of a big crowd and the games are not as important as AFL? So if he does get his confidence back at WAFL, will it translate when back for the Dockers? I’m going to say no, and why maybe a defensive role could be an option to save his career.

Jackson doesn’t stand a chance against Meek. Drop Amiss and let him play Fwd/Ruck this game. Bring Switta in for Amiss and play a bit shorter in the forward line.
If Switta is available, he will come in. I would be inclined to drop Amiss and Duds and bring in Switta and Walker
