I don’t think communication would be much more than other WA boys we rated highly tbh.

It’s about maintaining interest when West Coast is probably doing the same. Ultimately in most cases it comes down to role, money and a player’s ambitions to play in a flag but the family link (father, brother etc) is usually almost a deal breaker. However if we showed interest at 18 and interest at 21 and all times in between but West Coast were only interested at draft time and a few months before the trade request then it is just something extra in our favour. We don’t want to be on the other end of that equation - even with Allan who’s dad played for us almost 30 years ago.

Bringing players home for the next 3 or 4 years could be a challenge financially with how bad the list is at West Coast.

They have to spend their salary cap somewhere so if Allan (or anyone else) was keen to come home and we offer 400-500k a year the Eagles could offer double that which is very tempting for a lot of players.

Surely they don’t trade first rounders the next two years with Tasmania likely to borderline destroy the next draft after that - reckon the draft after will be impacted too.

Surely you can only really look at Reid, Shanahan, Hewitt, Ginbey and Hough of their youngsters (23 or younger) and expect actual long term players. There’s a few others drafted last year we haven’t seen enough of too. They might get one or two other long term players from their kids but atm they’re playing because they are young not because they’re any good. High picks, if used properly, will go past the rest of the youngsters playing very quickly and West Coast fans won’t need to pretend that Noah Long is next Lachie Schultz or Archer Reid is the next next Oscar Allen. Please… They need to hit the draft big time and get some real talent in.

The club has many times said they keep tabs on WA boys drafted interstate. Have no doubt whatsoever that the club will be talking to his manager especially around contract time.

I think the difference between Clark and Allan at least in my eyes was that Clark had actually shown more but was somehow further from his teams best 22 than Allan. I said at the time when posters said we overpaid for Clark they’d be wrong and he’d be inside our top five most talented players within 2-3 years. Think I got that right. Anyway I think it’s pretty easy to see how Allan makes his way into Collingwood’s best 22 - Probably isn’t a stretch to say that a premiership this year or next or poor season next year sees a number of older players retired or delisted. Not sure it’s beyond him to push himself into the team before that anyway.
Judd McVee is more similar to Jordan Clark in terms of where he's at now compared to where Clark was at in his final year at Geelong. McVee's currently a player who's shown promise who's probably not been played in his best position. (wing) He would benefit from a new home. I really hope we pick him up this offseason as I think McVee's class with his skills and he would fill a need on our list (outside winger/half back)

He's played pretty much every game he's been available the last two years, possibly three. It's not like the Clark situation in that way.

Personally think half back is his best position anyway.

Personally thitk half back is his best position anything.
He's said in an interview he wanted to play further up the ground coming into 2025 like he did in his juniors. He missed the early part of the season with a hamstring injury and part of the preseason. If he was at full fitness he probably would have played more wing in 2025.

I think I read recently there’s a group of players who’ve been getting together to practice marking and Voss was one of them? I can’t find anything about it but I think they’d given themselves a name
JL mentioned it in his post match for the marking practice crew: The Voss Academy
