Johnson cult refuses to ever acknowledge his poor performances. He can not do a single thing wrong in their eyes.

What the actual ****?
Try watching a game with both eyes.

With the exception of that awful kick sideways with two mins to go MJ was VERY good against hawthorn. He loves the contested stuff, he’s going to be a very good finals performer when the time comes.
People seriously need to watch him closer rather then focussing on the poor error from time to time.

I’m surprised MJ has copped it on here and not one person has mentioned Worner’s disposal. He turned back the clock against the Hawks and had some howlers. I rather move Banners to the sub and bring Walker in but recon he’s on notice. A 60-70k hostile crowd will be a good experience.

I wanna know what you Johnson omitters are smoking. He had a couple of shaky disposals which every player has a game, Murphy couldn’t even pick up the football in the first quarter but you don’t see anyone coming for his head. Wagner too with his turnover to CJ in the middle of the ground.

I could count so many things Johnno did right with his decision making and defensive accountability, including working his ass off to be an outlet kick for Ryan in the last quarter - he isn’t getting dropped.

Young should be back in as sub he’s been TTHD over the last few weeks.

Out: Dudley, Banfield
In: Young, Walker

Sounds like Pies Board reckons McStay could come back to defence.
McStay may go to Amiss, then Maynard v Voss (worth the price of admission).
Membrey under a cloud coz his wife is due to give birth

Yeah let's just go ahead and drop one of our best players
Interesting, I though Amiss was easily better than Voss. So much so I think they switched defenders on him in the 2nd half. Treacy was awesome though even though he didn't get on the score board as often.

Voss very impactful in the last though.

But never read much into those rankings cos a 6 for Chapman is very generous

Everyone has their biases which colour things, we had a few players with very average disposal and/or touch that game, Hawthorn also had a few moments so I was wondering how slippery it was, although it could have just been perceived pressure.

Reid certainly didn't have his best game, Chapman had a few howlers which he's unfortunately been prone to this year and Worner and Driz both had a few forgettable ones too.

Duds and Banfield would be at risk this game, and McDonald obviously depends on Pearce.

That kick to Dudley in the last should have him Banned from ever taking a kick in again
The kick to Treacy, one on three, in the third was pretty average right at the end of the quarter. The team up field were gesticulating at him after they kicked the goal from the resulting turnover.

Treacy was mouthing one on three with his hands.

It's not the plan to kick like that.

I watched the replay because I wanted to see if my heightened emotions during the game made Johnson's game look worse than it actually was.

He definitely shouldn't be dropped. I get it wrong occasionally (All the time) but I'll admit I went a bit soon on the bloke. His stoppage work was actually decent and he was doing some really nice stuff off the ball as well. Just what stood out were those turnovers. But as others mentioned Worner, Banfield, Wagner and a few others had a few as well.

If he improved his disposal under pressure (which is a big ask from any contested midfielder) and he cleaned up his disposals more he would be a very handy player.

As long as they sufficiently repel him from returning home to play with his Daicos buddies I'm happy. Had a few 2024 Worner moments early but steadied. Great efforts late.

Worner knows his limitations. I think sometimes Jonno thinks he's peak Nat Fyfe. He doesn't often take the first option. Do they keep stats for the amount of times you get caught holding the ball? He's almost at Nick Suban levels this season.
I know this all sounds harsh because he's a young player but it's still the truth.

I expect Jonno is backed by coaches to try and break tackles. He is very strong and is often successful in breaking them, which provides a good break from contests. Just like Fyfe who I remember getting caught HTB quite often, even in his prime.
