Pies always have significant outs against us and usually amounts to nothing except when they win they get to say their VFL team beat us (80% are 2023 premiership players)

gonna have to be a big game from our talls here. besideds treacy, theyre contested marking has not been a hgihlight lately, thats where we can get the ascendancy

I actually think it is our mids we need to show up, if we win or break even there, which is a very difficult task, we should be a very good chance of winning the game. Not just clearances, we can’t let them cut us up in transition as they can.

Feel like this is a game Jackson could have a big one.

It felt like that because we missed so many easy shots and then let them score easily the other way.
Gave the ball back in our forward 50 too easily. It was poor execution with the 60+ inside 50s we had. That was the reason we lost which allowed quick and precise rebound.

Who goes to N Daicos and Elliot?

Probably the most important match ups.

Maybe JOM to Nick, Chappy to Elliot? Or they might bring Walker back for Elliot.

I felt like Jackson has been good in this area too so decided to have a quick check of this years stats.

Treacy 17 games 30 CM 86 Marks
Jackson 14 games 17 CM 45 Marks
Amiss 17 games 13 CM 58 Marks
Voss 13 games 7 CM 37 Marks

Not bad. I feel like these players nearly always have an opponent so marking uncontested is still usually getting away from them somehow. While slightly less games, from watching Voss does appear to be not as good in the air and can lose contests rather than bringing the ball to the ground. Treacy's marking did improve out of sight 18 months ago so there is hope yet.

Collingwood's backline works as a coordinated unit very well so with them missing personnel, particularly those with the ability to compete in the air, it's imperative we win the centre clearances.

Getting the ball in quickly to our KPFs so they can enjoy some one on one contests will be crucial.

Frampton and Houston out according to this.

It almost makes me more nervous though. That drawn game last year they came over with a lot of injuries and still played the same. Not having many interceptors in the backline might be a bridge too far though.

Either way, now a win will also be downgraded as no big deal since the Pies had injuries.
I'd take 4 points big deal or no big deal

They've only got 2 talls now, no Billy Frampton. Probs play McStay back, or bring someone in from VFL.
So we've got to stop Moore peeling off and intercepting. This is a game where Jye can really show what he's got

Charlie Dean is no Jeremy howe

Some pretty significant outs for Collingwood's defence. You'd be hoping for at least 7 or 8 goals combined from Jye, Vossy, Treacy and Jacko.

System only gets you so far. Losing a lot of first choice players from the same area of the ground will have a noticible impact. Howe in particular is a massive out.

These outs likely mean they will be unable to repeat the intercepting feat they achieved last time. They're missing a key rebounder also. So, Collingwood are forced to win it from midfield, which is not always their strength.

If we get on top in clearance they may crumble down back.
