Something I've noticed is that when Serong is not tagged he covers nearly, if not outright, the most kms of anyone on the ground but when he is tagged he doesn't feature in that top group.

That's why I want him and Harley to go head to head. Serong will blow him up by half time.

The media are still trying to spice up the Derby but I have no doubt our players will be focussed on one thing and one thing only.

We want to win big and that can only be achieved by staying focussed on the job at hand and not being distracted by idiots.

If I was J-lo I would play replays of Maurice Rioli Jnr's 2 key moments last week: the chase down tackle of the season and then smother, soccer to advantage and pass to Nank in the goalsquare, ad nauseum to the players this week.

West Coast were in with a sniff until those two moments completely broke their spirit.

If we play with similar defensive intensity, and hunt the football and player with ferocity, the dam wall will break, make no mistake about it.

We rarely bury teams and I'm not expecting it to happen tomorrow.

Our season will be decided by wins and losses, not percentage.
Not this year. There are about seven clubs vying for spots within a game or two of each other and we’ve got the worst percentage of them all. If the favourites win this weekend, we’ll be seventh but equal fourth. Percentage might also determine whether we have a home final or not. We need to try and win big these next three games.

Regarding our percentage predicament and the close state of the top-eight

We've obviously been humming with rotations, player management so on.

Those things considered, do we risk possibly upsetting our gameplan and player management by going all in and overclocking our team to really go all-in on some very important percentage building or keep on humming, playing conservatively and doing what we do to bank the four points?

Keep in mind, that percentage could be the difference between, dare I say a top-four spot or a home or away elimination final?
That's what they will be saying internally I think. We cannot focus on percentage.

Forget ladder position, just focus on winning and keeping them healthy and ready for the next week.

It's such a fine balance for a WA team. We don't have the luxury to put in a max effort to win by 100 points. That could end up costing us a win down the track.

Like they said mid year, I think we're seeing the effect of the extra home game now. Instead of fading, we're running over the top of sides.

I think they're also doing a great job of managing player loading in game.

It's going to happen naturally anyway. Our percentage the last month or two is about 137%. Just keep on playing the way we are and hopefully we'll get to about 120%, which might determine if we play a home final or not

If I’m the Eagles I’m copying the Saints game plan. Everyones a tagger when they’ve got the ball or it’s in dispute particularly around stoppage & then attack when we get possession. I’m thinking it will be some brand of 1v1 footy.
The other thing is they have changed game style recently & are trying to play a more conservative brand of patience instead of fast movement. Cover the 45 off half back & we should be able to turn them over earlier & get them on the fast break which we have been doing well this season.
Anyway I’d takes 90-50 win with no injuries, anything greater is a bonus.

Just tag both Andy and Caleb and you're halfway to winning.

Tagging only works if you have depth in your midfield or the tagger still gets a bit of it. I don’t think they have either. But I do think they will tag Serong with Hough & try to get a match up of Reid on Brayshaw.

The Saints' depth is fingernail deep but that didn't stop them from flogging us the first time around, although probably exacerbated by underestimating them. We underestimated them less the second time but they were still competitive. Might be enough for the dirty birds to prevent a blowout.

WC can flood the contest with their half forwards, Pies did that to us a bit too. If we dominate the bounce clearances and turn that into scores (which we've been poor at lately, I think we are bottom four from scores from stoppage) then we will be fine.

But we should expect them to try and bring it down to a slog.

Yes no argument here, but Ross didn’t have to adjust their game style too much as that’s how he coaches.
For WC they’ve tried to play an expansive move the ball on at all costs & have recently changed that mind set. They’re going to have to be very diligent on the track to get this right as they are all over the shop with the messaging to the players. That’s coming from a player.
It’s going to be a good challenge for us coming off 2 finals like games & its going to be interesting test of our apparent new found maturity.
We have to start well or it could be a grind.

It's probably going to be more of a tussle than people think. No way West Coast will be as abject as they were after half time last week and we've struggled against teams that have come out with the sole intention of blunting us.

A great test of the group's maturity to match the intensity and execution they've brought over the last two weeks.
