I hope we have Fyfe as sub for finals, his leadership and calmness will be needed in September for such a young group
Potentially his best and most liekly way he could play a role, I'd still be nervous just how slow we could be with both him and JOM on the field at the same time... unless the plan is to sub JOM for Fyfe - but you can't plan for these scenarios.

This might shock some people on here. Banfield being on the wing isn't a bad idea. We are not really got a lot of quality wingers on the list. Definately not one in the Calibre of a Hill Brother .

There were games where Banfield was in the back 50. He has a solid left foot too
I believe Banfield was rated as an elite wing for the last block of games he played there (IIRC). Scores a few too.

I don’t mind it. Banfield would be a more defensive winger as well. NOD is more attacking. Gets Walker into the defensive mix.

Do we manage Darcy or does Walker come in as sub? The sub option is the more difficult decision.

After that epic performance you wouldn’t be dropping anyone. I’d say it is either an opportunity to manage someone or Walker is sub. Dudley and Erasmus other options as sub.

Surely we can manage a couple of players in this game

Darcy, ryan could do with resting off 6 day break to prime them for the next block of games

I don’t think ryan would voluntarily give up his spot but darcy should

Darcy maybe because Jackson taking the piss against Flynn means we dont lose much. Ryan is back to his best though and I wouldn't want to mess with that.

Flynn is a big unit. I like Jackson as an onballer. Losing Johnson (likely to injury) will leave us very small onball.

I wouldn’t drop Darcy.

Think a lot of people have misread the role Johnson was playing for us tbh.

He's been playing too much winger to be replaced by some of the players suggested. Will be interesting how the club throws the magnets around if that's what they choose to do. Sharp is the only actual wing replacement.

I doubt very much Worner will be omitted, even if subbed out. He wasn't overly bad yesterday but they had to sub someone out for young. Also had good block of games

I'm not proposing he gets omitted because i don't rate him or his performance. I just think from a balance perspective the coaching staff may be inclined to bring Walks in.
I would suggest Walks for Banfield but i think the versatility Banfield provides keeps him in the side.

Fatside winger seems to be tucking in more since a game or two before Sharpe was dropped? Besides defending space on transition we're effectively playing two skinny side wingers.

It's working well although has risk (like when -I think it was- Johnson was sucked into a contest and Sidebottom ghosted forward for a mark and goal).

So yeah they might decide O'Meara and a mix of rotated inside mids + Wagner and even banners is a better option than Sharp for the far side wing.

Think it'll be NOD and JOM mainly but they'll need minutes contributed from elsewhere.

I think we can all agree Erasmus or Young aren't wingers. You obviously fit Young in but I wonder if the balance is slightly off.

Thought JOM looked much better once they put Young on and was forced more to the wing but the above changes basically force him completely out of inside mid rotations altogether - not sure that's ideal either.

We desperately need to get our percentage above GWS if we can over the next few games.

GWS are 110 points ahead of us in scoring, 9 points behind us in scores against.

Dogs are 380 points ahead of us in scoring, 96 points behind us in scores against.

We need to try and put two 10 goals wins on the board to catch up.

I want to get it on record that we really just need to win. Not to get ahead and put the line at 60 points. Or 100 points.
I wouldn't be impressed by anything less than a 60 point win tbh. Anything less will mean that we'll need to improve before playing better teams - even Carlton on their day can trouble finals contenders for example.

Beat all of West Coast, Carlton and Port we'll have 15 wins and we'll be able to think about top four with finals locked in though. Getting through those games with four points is the most important thing.

Yes he was. I think he would shore that up and cover enough of what we lose with Johnson going down. Also with Walker ready to return, the spot is there in the back line.

At the end of the season however I feel that the four points is the most important thing. Beat all of West Coast, Carlton and Port we'll have 15 wins and we'll be able to think about top four.

I think WC would throw everything they have at Freo this weekend. Melbourne the week after will be playing a side that has run a game and a half of repeat sprints the week before, heavy legs and mentally spent.

Certainly, if I were a WC fan, nothing else matters this year now other than beating Freo this weekend and potentially stuffing up their finals run.

Just Ras for Johnno for me.

Rotate O'Meara and Ras on the wing/inside mids.

We lose a little bit of speed, height/aerial ability and power, but I think Ras may actually be a better decision maker with the ball than Johnno.

Either way, this may be Ras' last chance to have a proper crack at it or else the trade table beckons at seasons end.

Sharp is an even bigger butcher than Johnno disposal wise, and his limitations have become clearer the longer we've had him. He can run, but that seems to be about it. I don't think I can watch him burn another teammate with an errant shot for goal from 55m when the easy short pass is on again, without checking myself in for therapy. Walker has speed, but again seems to freeze up mentally when pressure is applied in the d50 from hard tackling forward lines like the Swans/Pies.

I think we have finally learned errant disposal/poor decision makers in this modern age of transition footy is an absolute team liability/coach killer.

Ins considered will be Erasmus, Dudley and Walker. Incidentally all three emergencies for this game.

If Pearce is fit he is an obvious replacement for OMac. I’d rather he rest another week and be cherry ripe.

I thought Banfield was solid. NOD made a couple of crucial errors late but he will learn from those. They could for example throw Banners into the forward mix, with Young replacing Johnson and Walker back to defence. Alternatively JOM more wing and Erasmus in.
Banfields errors directly cost goals almost every week. But his left foot field kicking is pretty sweet, though he doesnt have enough confidence to pull it off regularly.

He lost his rag about when that rubbish high tackle call made him point to the screen. He wasn’t wrong, shite call. Otherwise he’s been good.
