Regarding our percentage predicament and the close state of the top-eight

We've obviously been humming with rotations, player management so on.

Those things considered, do we risk possibly upsetting our gameplan and player management by going all in and overclocking our team to really go all-in on some very important percentage building or keep on humming, playing conservatively and doing what we do to bank the four points?

Keep in mind, that percentage could be the difference between, dare I say a top-four spot or a home or away elimination final?
Percentage could also be there difference between finals or no finals.

Not this year. There are about seven clubs vying for spots within a game or two of each other and we’ve got the worst percentage of them all. If the favourites win this weekend, we’ll be seventh but equal fourth. Percentage might also determine whether we have a home final or not. We need to try and win big these next three games.
I guess my comment was that it's too late in the season to think we can magically flick a switch and all of the sudden start demolishing teams and therefore increase our percentage by 10% or more.

Have we beaten any team by more than 10 goals this year? Maybe once...just.

Thinking we can win tomorrow by 90-100 points is fantasy stuff in my mind and I desperately hope the club is not thinking anything like this.

No not all in one game but we can try and win the next three games by a lot and limit the opposition to not very much and it might push our percentage in front of a couple of teams

I can't see us blowing WC off the park. They've been saving themselves for this game for weeks and will throw the kitchen sink at us now. They have the #1 and #2 picks secured, so there is nothing to lose.

I can see this being close for a quarter or half, and we hold them off by 5-6 goals. There's been a few derbies like that in recent years. We did manage a 101 point win in late 2023, but I don't see that happening.

The messaging from the team and Longmuir is all about repetition of process to perform at their best. He inferred today at the presser that they believe previous dodgy performances against lower-tier sides have come from the group placing far too much pressure on themselves not just to win, but win well.

I'd imagine the last thing they'll be wanting to do is start placing targets towards building percentage or aiming for margins that they 'should' be winning by.

Something I've noticed is that when Serong is not tagged he covers nearly, if not outright, the most kms of anyone on the ground but when he is tagged he doesn't feature in that top group.

That's why I want him and Harley to go head to head. Serong will blow him up by half time.

Spoke to a source that's close with him today - apparently he's still so filthy about the Swans game and getting tagged out.

Apparently he said O'Meara is the single most important factor for him in cleaning up, reckons he clears the road for him.

Never been a big fan of JOM but that was interesting to hear.

I think there is some truth to this.

The expectations not just the players but everyone else that not only should the team win but win well against the bottom teams. This then leads to the mindset it will just unfold as everyone thinks and instead of needing to put at least close to maximum effort it may not be a significant drop, which is all that is required to just scrape in with a win or shock loss

The pressure then of we should win is replaced by oh shit it's getting tight and instead of the drop of pressure at the start there is the sudden increase in pressure in that we can't let them beat us.

Perceived pressure then results in errors, rushing things and that together with the other team playing above their standard level and jagging goals to boot

Yeah it’s just a chat on a message board. I won’t be emailing my suggestions to the club so no need to stress

I know the girls on the phones at the Eagles take phone calls from members all during the start of the week, being told what the team needs to do and copping the abuse of disappointed fans.

I'd be surprised if Fremantle doesn't get those calls too.

Credit where credit is due.

O’Meara has always been a team player.

Brothers girlfriend works on the phones at Freo can confirm it does happen. Gets 100s of oldies telling her that she needs to tell JL to change the game plan after a loss

Reckons she got 100s of people calling up to cancel the membership after the Alex Pearce fiasco and that he should be dropped as captain

So you're telling me I shouldn't send them my 5 point plan on how to win a flag?

Flynn is the least accountable ruck in the game, so Darcy taking marks in the middle should be on.
Grundy, Meek and Cameron have been among the best on ground the last 3 weeks which suggests our duo aren't especially accountable either. would hope we grind Flynn and Williams into dust

My change would be to actually annihilate a side this year.

Our percentage could be an issue and who better to boost it against? I’m going tomorrow with a bunch of Eagle supporters and I want to rub their faces in a big pile of poo whist wearing a massive shit eating grin.

Yes but I am sure it was a special pressure act!

That statline seems most impossible for an AFL level player to not even have 1 disposal or tackle in an hour of football.
Heard it was bowel pressure but a dump at quarter time sorted it. Nice of them to record it as a stat though.

Caleb will learn from that experience and will eventually learn how to deal with it. I have noticed that he appears to have bulked up a bit more this season.

Having either Fyfe or JOM in the middle with their big bodies and nous definitely helps him and Andy get free.
