main thing bugging me is actually that their next coach was our midfield coach for years...

Carr knows us well. that's actually an issue here. our midfield specifically. and this is a clearance/stoppage game.

on current form and with their big outs (Burgoyne, JHF) we should, on paper, get this done.

but this has 'Dockery' all over it for me.
Carr 'knowing us well' might rub both ways. I reckon we've developed since he left. What he thinks he knows could be used against him.

Carr also knew us well when we beat them by 50 a couple months ago

That was very likely a tactical loss. We drop our guard thinking about them being easy beats before they hit us with a surprise first quarter blitz.

Judging from the Port board, they are up and about for this match.

I must confess part of me says hold back Pearce another week, let that dodgy leg settle down some more...
BUT
This is a must win game, the easiest of our last three,
We have to give it a red hot crack and not hold anything back.

LFG.
They literally did that last week regarding Pearce.

Port's midfield is thread bare at the moment. Rozee has a broken hand, even if he plays he will be limited. JHF is out injured.

They have Butters, with Wines and Boak providing an ok side act. We should win the midfield battle easily.
You underestimate Drew, he tags, tackles and gets the pill. He will nullify Serong.

You’d have to be downright awful to lose your spot in the team of late it seems
Prob means Fyfe will play against port. esp if wags saying he pulled up sore and Fyfe and Pearce are suspect, it could be risky to include them both

Logan maybe 191 but plays taller, he has been carving up all the main tall defenders this year
exactly. Because he is super quick out of the blocks on the lead. Why would playing our out of form, oldest defender on him achieve any different result to all the main tall defenders this year? Just think our own young, quick, and super enthusiastic 193cm defender maybe a good strategy to try.
