Bev:

“We certainly won’t be going down the track of everything’s do or die.

“Melbourne is a very good, contested side. They’re a very threatening stoppage team, and we rate them pretty highly.

“The expected versus actuals have them winning more games than us at the moment. They’ve left some scores out there with their opportunities up front.

“They’ve had a lot of inside 50s over the journey, so no one can take the Demons lightly, let alone us.”

Trepidation?!

Vandemeer keeping his spot is a weird one, even though it shouldn’t have an impact on the final result. Subbed out against Brissy and then starting sub for two weeks in a row, making zero impact when coming on goes against everything Bevo has ever done with sub but alas you can’t win them all.

Probably will be Sub again as clearly not best 22 last few games he played and last game was our best all pressure games we have played in a very long time.

Allows full games for all emergencies against the best VFL team and if VDM is poor again there will be options

Have no doubt that Harmes not been unwell he would have been in for VDM

Catch 22. Baker, McNeill and Poulter having good games last week. Had to retain their spot but can we trust them 2 weeks in a row.
Good games against good opposition, whether we here trust them is irrelevant they earned their spot in the team that functioned well against good opposition in all facets of the game.

Up to them to keep that up and stay in the team

He does need to start this week (or play VFL).

Vanders was also having a fantastic first half of the season and everyone was singing his praises. He's definitely had a run of poor games since though.
3 rounds to go he is not in the best 22 so starts on the bench. He either adapts to that role or will not have that in the upcoming games.

His supposed strength is defensive running amd pressure. We as a team had our best 3qtrs all year in that facet and he was on the pine. A big wake up call for him and lucky Harmes was unwell or clearly not currently in the best 23.

Fantastic first half of the year is a significant overstatement , whe was a genuine AFL player for the 1st half of the year, it is coming to the end of the year now and his second half has been sub par

Vanders wouldn't get a game with 730 players in the league. He and about 90 others players have GWS and Gold Coast to thank for that.

Imagine how bad it's going to be when Tassie come in.

We’re at the stage of the year where the MC will settle on a team for a possible finals run.

While Dolan was excellent and worthy of a call up, I think Harmes needs to come back into the 23. He’s a proven finals performer, mature body and has the ability to play multiple roles.
Excuse can anybody tell me how did the reserves go today

Not to be too picky, but isn’t it exactly 44 players + 2 subs that can be thankful for that, not 90 players? :)
