Allison was fine imo. Clugg wasn't great but he was going in for the ball way more than I had ever seen. And was still able to create at times despite some really poor moments of indecisiveness or turning it over. Close has some good efforts but still showing that inability to jump up the next level. Thought Barrett looked limited.

I think Harwood might be injured but if not I'd bring him in for Barrett. If Berry is fit instant in and probably for Close, Hipwood and Walker seem to function well enough.
Harwood didn't play in the twos because of an injury, so very unlikely he will come in. Close did as much as Hipwood today for mine, Close 4 marks, Hipwood 5. I think he provides a contest and takes another quality defender. We are more likely to win with him in. Berry for Barrett, if Berry is fit.

Out: Close, McCluggage
In: Eagles, Berry
Eagles game yesterday was super impressive. He is a strong contested mark and his long run out of defence to clear, then receive the ball back, then hit Ballenden on the chest lace out is really worth seeing. He also did well in the ruck. But I don't reckon we will take the risk on him in a game we have to win and he hasn't been playing forward, though I think we should try him there next year. He would actually chase hard out of the forward line and apply pressure. Just need to keep him around and give him a go next year.

Out: Clugg, Close, Barrett
In: Bewick, McInerney, Keays

Clugg has been pretty poor for a while now. Would rather Bewick to give us a better chance of winning.

Hasn't worked with Close forward and Walker is average in the ruck. North will probably play 2 rucks so give Big O a chance.

Barrett is just a hopeless footballer. Keays has a future in the team and can play at least as good as Barrett in the forwardline.

If Berrys fit he plays.
I would keep Close, but McInerney for Close makes the most sense to me, if North play Goldstein and Preuss. McInerney would offer Martin a rest and allow Walker to play permanent forward. He took some telling marks in the last quarter and kicked 3 goals.

Keays was towelled up by the Giants midfield. Admittedly they had 3 high draft picks in Taranto, Kennedy, and Setterfield, but I wouldn't say he was demanding his spot back. I thought Josh Clayton was a lot better and is now winning contested ball and also runs both ways. I don't think he'll come in, but he's the one who deserves a go from the twos.

Dawson was playing better in the middle of the year. Doubt that we'd risk him given his issues with nerves, not in this game.

Out:
CBeams - Club should have an idea where he's at. Depth at best/probable de-listing. Will be better severed by giving an opportunity to a younger player.
Close - Hasn't been great. Fine to use Hipwood/Walker up forward.
Barrett - Only if Berry is fit.

In:
Keays - Been consistently in our best few in the NEAFL stats wise for a while now. But I didn't watch the NEAFL match so it could be misleading.
McInerney - Deserves a crack, been great in NEAFL all season. North probably going with two rucks as well.
Berry - If fit.

I'd consider giving Eagles a run too if there's an injury to a tall defender.

I'd hope the club doesn't sever Claye. :p

I think he isn't delist worthy just yet, he's finally had a year without too many injuries and probably the most playing time (Mostly NEAFL).

Give him a break and a pre-season with no injuries and you'll find he'll be quite serviceable as a depth player.

If there's room on the rookie list I'm happy to re-draft Beams for depth. But no longer warrants a senior list spot with the limited spots we have and if there's no room on the rookie list I think we should cut our losses. He's had 7 years.

Or you may have to consider a new user name....

(I agree by the way).

Don't know about the club itself but I know a few North supporters and they are very proud of their club's history of not winning wooden spoons. I would be very surprised if they came up here and tanked.

That said, they look cooked and we should account for them pretty comfortably.

Tried to get on $1.83 but the bookies have shortened us considerably already.

Ruse is like my young kids. They say something genuinely funny and they light up as they see everyone in the room laughing........ then they say the same thing over and over not understanding that is was the spontaneity, timing and randomness of what they said that made it funny..... not the words simply spoken out loud.

Barrett disposal sometimes I rather not watch :) He did not have a great game with only 2 tackles for a lock in forward. Although do we swap him and Keays every 2nd week not sure its great for either of them.
Close is hard he did not do a lot wrong we just expect more. Schache, Skinner and Hammer all not set the firsts of fire with there chances. Ok Hammer/Skinner not as many as Close/Schache.

McClug/Alison I play
Claye Beams does have a mature body which helps. be good if he string games together

Yes do we give the Big O a game. or even Eagles :)

Everyone talking about the tankeroos although pick 1 or 2 not much difference compared to having the status as Thomas the Tank Engine.
So I do worry they put a good game on, our quality of play lately has been great so we should win.

Close & Hipwood very different players however if you want to compare stats (which is another bad comparison) Hippy had far more goal assists & constructive influences on the game than Closey. Closey is a big bodied, lumbering young fella who needs to contest for marks and use his body to advantage which he seldom does for me. For his size, he often under sells his opportunities which the coaching staff are working on with him. If they can get him to become a strong bodied target, he will be a big asset to the team but he's yet to show that right now. Might need to instill more self belief/confidence in him to go out there & be more agressive. (kinda what Hipwood does now at 19)

Could well be since the knee reco he has lost confidence in that area of his game.
He is ok in a 1 on 1 contest, but when there is a pack situation he is normally the one sitting off the contest, like he was a small waiting to gather the ball once it hits the ground. But he is usually at the back rather than front and centre. And never gets it.
