Going to be funny when TB captains this side in a few years.

Shuey had multiple direct turnovers coming out of the back line yesterday and no one is calling for his head.

Yep, there were a few from a handful of players. We won't likely (hopefully) see that again. Prefer to do it in round 22 than in the finals.

I think Duggan comes in this week (he provides a bit of stability to the defence, even if his disposal isn't always 100%) and maybe nelson moves up the ground. Or duggan and masten with nelson making way.

Absolutely agree. I feel like the coaching staff will analyse this game to death and organise a correction for finals. It was one of those games where you look at it and go "we should have won this - here's why we didn't".

If we meet Richmond in the finals series for example there is absolutely no way Martin will be left as unaccountable as he was yesterday.

Let's say Tigers win 80 to 79 but we win 130 to 53, that would put us 0.04 percent ahead.

Or we win 120 to 70 and hope Tigers win 90 to 60. That would put us in front by 0.02 percent.
Yes - we need a Brissie loss (with us winning ofcourse) and about an 80 point swing over the 2 games, assuming reasonable scoring ranges. The lower scores the better.

Or a Carlton win!

Yep, for all of the complaining about the draw (a lot of it from me so I'm not pointing fingers at anyone) it has actually worked out ok.

We will know if Carlton have beaten Geelong or not near the start of our game.

If not, then we need to win by a lot - if we can't then make sure we win and get 3rd or 4th.

Actually I agree with you. After 3 seasons the coaching staff would know exactly what he has to offer.
But I really want to see what he can do at AFL level and he won't be making a debut in the finals. So it's this week or never for the MC to satisfy my personal curiosity.

Earlier in the season I recall Simpson saying that MAllen is ready for a debut, just awaiting his opportunity. So hopefully a lack of opportunity isn't what costs him a spot on our list.
Would be amazed if we give him a debut at this late stage.

Carlton could do us an almighty favour. Hard to see it happening though.

Carlton can win if Geelong go the tactical tank to avoid Richmond/ Collingwood Week 1 of finals. However if they play properly then Geelong will win easy.
Tactical tank and sacrifice a home final? Yeah nah.

"Home" final at the MCG against an MCG tenant. May be less appealing than trying for second and hosting West Coast/ Brisbane.
If they lose they probably don't finish second. So yeah, the MCG is preferable to a trip interstate.

Dunno. This is where the permutations of the finals plays out and what makes the last round so interesting. Do they finish first and lock in an "away final" against Richmond/ Collingwood? Do they try and lose small and aim for second and most likely play West Coast/ Brisbane at the 'G? Do they take the risk knowing that finishing third could send them to Optus? Who do they feel more confident in beating?

An intriguing last round awaits.

Go look at the ladder. It's not that complicated. "Losing small" isn't a factor.

If Geelong lose they'd be stuck on 15 wins. Brisbane already have 16 wins. And WC and Richmond would have 16 wins depending on what happens in R23.

So Geelong would likely be 3rd and quite possibly 4th. No way they risk that.

Duggo and NicNat in for Waterman and Nelson.

I think Duggo is a lock to come in and Petrol lucky to hold his spot.

Could be Rotham out being last player to come in but thought he did enough to hold his spot.

What an end to the season, we could still finish anywhere from 2nd to 5th.
Just win please.

If you think teams try and lose you've got rocks in your head TBH.

We are not guaranteed to beat the Hawks. No team will be taking a "calculated risk" , have to win your game, if you can. Pies can still jump us in the 4. Then what, A possible home elimination final against the Dogs

Wait, why aren't we a guarantee to beat Hawthorn? I mean, we're the 3rd places side on the ladder, while they're ninth. Just because we lost yesterday doesn't suddenly mean we're vulnerable to every side in the competition.

We should win and win handily, but no win is guaranteed.
