Voss was in the team to relieve Jackson. He was no good at that and they abandoned that after a short stint and played Treacy relief ruck. Voss spudded up the forward role. It is more a case of if there are more effective forwards, which I believe there are. Simpson, Narkle can play more effectively up forward. Shame Sturt isn’t fit.

Until Darcy is fit we are going to have to run with Jackson and Treacy in the ruck. Then pick the best forwards.

Should just make cox second ruck/utility and draper play his role??

That’s the negativity of the game plan. It always comes down to the final moments.
V Carlton last season. A touch mark. They get in front and an umpire dissent.

V GWS. A 50m penalty to Hogan.

V Port. Two moments and it’s over.

Not saying Voss isn’t to blame but gee really dislike the defensive game plan coming down to one or two shots. 9 goals against almost always win, however kicking 9 goals doesn’t either.

The club/players really need to stop letting one or two moments affect the game like it does. 4 goals to none at quarter time. Should just blow them out and not have such an issue with Voss. But unfortunately it’s pretty intense.

Yes you cannot play a defensive game style and then not be able to close out the game out when the heat goes on in the final quarter.

Agree on Jye, he seems to engage too much with his opponent and should be using his speed to more into space and up the ground.

Conversely we don't run a tag which is killing us. Why play Banfield when we don't use him as a tagger?

Using Banfield as a midfield tagger would kill our ability to actually win the ball, I did like using him on Blakey though. I hope that continues and he tags McGovern this week and Dale the following week.

Banfield looked like he was playing as a defensive forward on the Lizard which worked okay. And people are saying JOM ran with Heeney though I must say I didn't particularly notice. You can’t tag em all, that's two of Sydney's prime movers we put time into.
We have problems everywhere but at the moment we probably should be more worried about what we do with ball in hand than tagging more.

He was delisted by PA for a reason.

He probably needs to play higher. I get the feeling he is more of an undersized mid, than a small forward. He played his best football in the SANFL as a mid.


My changes are

Walker out for Dudley
Frederick out for Simpson

Simpson to be the sub. (I only expect one change, with either Dudley or Simpson or Narkle coming in for Walker)

How are his skills as well?

Can't remember him being an elite kick of the ball.

hes not much chop forward with ball in hand, can make things happen off the halfback imo. hes a good kick, better than most down there and has a real tendency to run with the footy

It’s begging for a tag every week.
Warner got Sydney back in the game. Bailey Smith destroyed JOM and left him for dust every clearance.

Just throw Banfield in and he ll do the job. He’s a fit guy who will tackle and do the grunt work

Sydney tagged Serong with Jordon? Seemed to have a beneficial effect
If that’s the case, Crowley should’ve never tagged then. It worked well for years.

Jordan actually got the ball, IMO Banfield would be a massive negative for us as a midfield tagger.

Also I’m very skeptical that employing a hard midfield tag helps you win games.
