We could definitely use two of our three most important players coming back in Young and Darcy.

Do we rely on key players too much? Yes.

But we also relied on the likes of Frederick kicking one of his two shots at goal. On Voss kicking more than one goal out of five shots at goal. On Banfield taking a mark instead of it going through his legs. Erasmus kicking a set shot in front. None of them are our stars.

Amiss could have tapped the ball onto Bolton to dance in for a goal instead of taking possession and being tackled.

Our system and "layers" gave us a lot of looks at goal. Any of the above goes slightly more our way and we are talking about how we beat a side that has thumped us at home for years in a character defining slog.
We've had heaps of character defining wins against losing grand finalists. Last year was a massive 'character defining' win with all our key backs going down.

We should be aiming for more. Its increasingly hard to see this game plan taking us to a flag.

We like to talk about teams losing the week after playing us. Presumably its because its a taxing style of game not because playing us is their gf? We play that taxing game every week.

Boyd - Out
Rawlings - In

Is this the issue with our backline? Surprising both Ryan and Cox (normally stalwarts of our backline) are ordinary, are they not fitting in with Rawlings coaching style? Just a question!!

People said cox was coming back from injury so was still finding his form. Don't think he has ever been good 1v1 and that's the issue, unless they use him in a different role

We're kicking it to talls inside 50m. They got out positioned a few times yesterday but they brought the ball to ground in enough contests - sometimes they got hands on the ball and didn't complete the mark, but we really need that crumber that reads the fall off the ball at the contests and gets there first.

Don't see that in Frederick unless it's over the back, and Banfield is more of a defensive forward at best. If Walters and Switkowski aren't available and they're probably better with quick give hands and twisting and turning rather than getting to the drop, and Simpson isn't really a close to goal forward.

How far is this young Dudley fellow off the pace of AFL? He kicked goals in intraclub and the WAFL scratchies and I guess he has played league in the SANFL but pre-season WAFL to an AFL Derby might too huge a jump at this stage.

But that's what we were lacking yesterday - next week it could be not enough forward 50m pressure.

In saying that, there's Bolton.

If hew can tackle I'd take him because he'd be in front of Freddy. he just needs to jag a goal or too.

Probably Narkle first though

Anything less than 40-50 points against West Coast at a minimum is a loss in my opinion, yeah they took it to Brisbane, but if the club is genuinely serious they will turn around and smash West Coast, but then the club would have an excuse to keep Longmuir around.

It's all about winning a premiership now for me.

If losing every game until we get a new coach is the quickest way to get us closer to flag then so be it.

I've been under the opinion for ages that JL had to go for us to have any shot at winning a flag with this generation of players.

It's probably better we're a bottom four team with a top eight list than a top eight team with a top four list. As we've seen with Ken Hinkley the latter is throwing away a premiership window. The former is the reality if our current situation and much easier to make the change that's so obviously required.

There aren't as many easy games as well now if you compare us to the rest of the comp.

We have stagnated while Hawks, Norf, Crows, Bombers have improved. Some of those latter 3 will be up and down a lot and we may spank them. But equally the bombers beat us last year and Norf the year before.
