One thing i noticed about Voss again on the weekend and it isnt the first time is that he seems like an absolute w***er.

He kicked an easy goal, which mind you he nearly stuffed up and instead of turning around and celebrating with Ras who created his goals he went straight to the crowd with his arms out.

I agree, he even celebrates like that in match sim at training. To much about him

Voss wasn't in front, Frederick was in front of goal. In the third, kicking towards the city end, from the same general location as Banfield's kick.

When Voss took the mark there, Frederick was wide open about 20 to 30m to Voss' right and Patrick pointed at the goal and chose to take the kick himself.
That's not how Geelong were operating at their peak under Bomber Thompson. They always looked for the bloke in better position (sometimes stupidly). The mantra I really love is "make your teammate the best player on the ground". There's a time and place for someone to accept the responsibility to kick the goal and Voss should never be that bloke.

(FWIW that play was right in front of me and I don't reckon Freddie was sufficiently int the clear for Voss to easily hit him up.)

Geez one second it’s all “wish we were hawthorn” the next it’s “why the **** is a player celebrating a goal”

Plenty of things to be complaining about but player celebration is really the least of our worries. A guy kicks a goal let him celebrate with the fans.

Bingo. I wish our team was a bit more excited when they kick a goal. Especially given how rare they are.

He will never be, right up until he is, and given he had five shots at goal against the Swans (big improvement on Reidy) we should want him at peace with his own ability to kick the set shot - not looking for the hand off because his confidence is shot, even under the guise of being pro-team.

As I've said earlier, Voss celebrates his team mate's wins really hard, as hard as he does his own and I pointed to the example at the other end of the ground where Amiss kicked his goal. When Jye takes the mark Voss has his fists in the air like they just won a bet on a horse together.

You can see it again last year where Jackson kicked a goal in general play running back towards goal after I think Voss spilled that mark, Voss was celebrating like they just kicked it after the siren.

Frederick was in open space nearly straight in front and Voss looked at him and pointed to the goal.

Do I think Voss should have passed the ball? Yes.

Do I think Voss kicking that goal could have lead to more confidence in himself and more goals from him in that game, as well as future games? Yes.

I really do prefer players who take it upon themselves to have the moment over those looking to shovel it to someone else. I don't think Voss is a poor team mate for his choice to try and kick the goal himself.

Sorry it’s about knowing when to take the shot and when to pass, it isn’t about getting more confidence for the next game. Voss made the wrong choice.

I have no problem with guys celebrating goals in games, but Voss does it in match sim!?!?

To not kick to the guy who missed a closer, more in front shot the quarter before?

If the outcome influences whether the decision was correct I better not read anyone upset if the ball is turned over kicking to someone closer to goal over taking a set shot.

We want Voss kicking more goals. He gets there by kicking the goals.

People on BF have a weird hangup on players showing any semblance of character/celebrating a goal or just having fun in general. Feels like a good portion of this site want players to be soulless robots who only focus on the football itself.

I am not a fan of Reidy, but a bit unfair to compare the pair.Reidy rucked for most of the Geelong game.Seldom up forward.
Voss seldom rucked, if at all.Spent most time up forward.

Reidy was not even the main ruck in the Geelong game. Jackson had twice as many contests s. Literally spent more time forward than in the ruck.

We can't carry players like Banfield, Cox, Rick etc... anymore. They just suck when the pressure is right up.

We should think twice before trading away a king's bounty in picks for Kozzie or Warner since our list has too many untalented hacks collecting pay for shit efforts.
The counter argument to that is every premiership team has role players and average foot soldiers. Let's not forget Joel Hamling is a premiership player. Cox is better than him.

Until Reidy shows any semblance of improvement, Voss needs to stay in the team until Darcy gets back, when you look at it in hindsight, Voss is still incredibly raw when it comes to AFL, he's played less than 10 games right? Gotta be patient with him.

Both of the West Coast rucks didn't finish the game against Brisbane Lions last week. Archer Reid had a leg injury and Bailey Williams they said was just cramp. If the latter doesn't get up they might have a completely different ruck combo and go back to Matt Flynn and probably Jack Williams as back up - which might mean that Liam Reidy comes back into consideration.

Frederick still offers something in the forward line.

I agree about kozzie Pickett. Not worth trading 3 1st round picks

Liam Reidy couldn’t even get it done against Coen Livingstone who’s never even played a game before.

Well I'd rather we didn't but how much work can we expect a back up ruck to do. It gets to a tipping point with the physical contests with Jackson if he has to do 90%, even if it only might be for one or two more games with the outlook on Sean Darcy looking positive. Who did Reidy ruck against in the WCE vs Peel scratch match, where he's listed in the best players?

Anyway now their injury list is out and none of their rucks are on it, so can assume they could go with Archer Reid and Bailey Williams again. Waterman and Graham are listed as tests.

And??? Let people have fun geez. He could celebrate winning a handball drill and there would still be no problem with it.

As I said I have no problem with guys celebrating goals but when you only celebrate your own goals in match sim and not others goals, like I saw Voss do is borderline w***erism

Voss isn't going to get dropped. He just almost played a 5 goal game as a power forward, just didn't actually kick the goals. I think someone posted his stats vs Treacy and apart from the accuracy they were very similar. He's offering a lot more than Reidy. And to be honest, if he learns to kick straight he'll be offering a fair bit more than Amiss right now too.

This screams of a Dockery statement if i have ever heard one

If that’s w***erism then let him be a w***er. You seen how the hawks players go about it? Biggest w***ers of all time in that regard but it’s not stopping them from winning is it.
