Why would we rest Libba after 3 games and a bye?

The bloke has played 109 games in the last 5 years at average over 80% game time.

He's clearly in supreme knick and still an elite AFL mid, despite people wanting to semiretire him or years.

Did his hammy, predicted to miss two to three weeks.

If we're fair dinkum about selection integrity you simply must reward VFL form, and 6 goals for Lewis and very little from Croft means they swap. I'd keep a short leash on Lewis with an eye to have them swap back for the Essendon game as Croft is clearly the future.

If Treloar is ready in a fortnight, presumably he comes in as the 6th onballer in place of Libba. Sanders, Freijah and Treloar can all absorb Libba’s on-ball time.

The 52% TOG for Hynes on the weekend after 77% and 78% the first two weeks suggests he’s probably not in frame to step up into the 6th on baller role and keep Treloar out. And more likely makes way for Jones or Dolan.

Luke Kennedy I struggle to see a role for currently. Even if we needed a wing, I’d sooner move Davidson to wing full time and bring in a forward.

Agree re: Lewis. Awkward situation really, but I think Croft is more competitive in the ruck which probably keeps him in for now.

Hope nothing happens with Buku because I see no viable replacements for him. I really want to see Buss get a run this year so we can make a call on whether he’s worth persisting with. Lobb’s role is probably his best chance

In what world is it acceptable to schedule a bye after Round 1? The VFL fixturing has been a debarcle for years. Chat GPT could do a significantly better job than the dogs breakfast they serve up year after year with this competition.

There's an even number of teams and 4 teams get a bye in the first two rounds. Why not just make it a 21 week competition, every team plays each other once and have one or two league wide byes during the season?

I'd have hynes and Libba make way for Jones and Dolan.
West can take the few midfield minutes Hynes had and we can get a sense of how Sanders is progressing with close to full midfield minutes against the dons.

I would expect Libba would be right to go against the Hawks but if not surely Treloar can play as a pseudo sub similar to pendles did a couple weeks ago.
