Its nice to have some depth in the wings all of a sudden. My opinion is still majority wing or VFL for Davo.

I prefer bramble in the front half of the ground, if at all. Budders, Jaques and Bowens have made a real knock-on effect further up the ground.

I think Arty comes back against the bombres.

Guys…We always have great discussion/debate in here each week. But I really don’t think it matters next match.

Looking at the Essendon game today, I'd be resting a few of our stars.

OUT: Bont, Darcy, Libba, Naughts, Richards, English, Lobb, Freijah.
IN: Nobody.

I reckon we can win with 15 players.
F- EssenDope no change let’s smash them (obviously I remember the 80s and lived out that way)

Having re watched the game and watching the VFL game the only changes at this stage could be;
Jones and or Dolan in
Hynes and or Davidson out

No melting of this is not the case

Buss's opportunity will come for either Lobb or JOD.

Trealor at least a couple of games away

Luke Kennedy is a wing option

Right now Lewis is a better forward than Croft but not too worried which way we go

Luke Kennedy I struggle to see a role for currently. Even if we needed a wing, I’d sooner move Davidson to wing full time and bring in a forward.

Agree re: Lewis. Awkward situation really, but I think Croft is more competitive in the ruck which probably keeps him in for now.

Hope nothing happens with Buku because I see no viable replacements for him. I really want to see Buss get a run this year so we can make a call on whether he’s worth persisting with. Lobb’s role is probably his best chance

I think we need to just keep getting games into Croft. He’ll be quiet at times but come the end of the year I think he’ll be well ahead of Lewis.

We can disagree with Kennedy and Davidson, Kennedy I have ahead having watched most of his VFL career but not sure either make it fully.

We play 3 defenders and Buku is probably number 1 at the moment.

JOD had his best game, Lobb was ok in the first 2. Buss is a more than adequate replacement for injury and needs to take it.

Lewis was an astute pick up for depth while W Darcy and Emmett develop to put pressure on Croft.

Would like to see one of W Darcy or Emmett develop down back

We do have good depth for a reasonable injury run but it is a long long season

Going to this one with my Essendon supporting in-laws. 6 of them. I don't want to be too cocky, but im very excited for potential bloodshed.

W Darcy looked a million miles away from AFL level on Saturday. He’s had a lot of good write ups, and that’s the first full game of his I’ve seen in person, so I am not all that well informed. But yeah, it was not good.

So closer than the bloke not rocking up to training and taking up the last spot on our list in 2025.

Some of us are really harsh on players at times.
Davidson, Hynes, Croft are role players and still young and inexperienced, yet we are winning against quality opposition.

I think Hynes gets squeezed out for Arty against the Bombers - his pressure, energy and scoring instincts are great and should free West up a bit more, who has been quietish.

The beauty of starting the season so well gives us time to 'manage' players like Libba, Lobb, Kennedy, JOD, Naughton, Darcy, Richards later in the year, which will allow us to bring in players like Dolan, Treloar, Kennedy, Buss, Carmichael, Emmett, Lewis - even for 2 or 3 games to give them exposure at the top level.

I feel like Arty, Dolan, Treloar will come in and stay in providing they stay fit, but no rush (apart from Arty), who really looks ready to become an exciting AFL footballer if he stays fit.

The coach and medical staff are usually conservative with injury management and prevention and this will be front of mind come the mid way point of the season.

We are such a professional football club these days !

Hynes & Davidson have been playing as the third tall at times with Croft low TOG%.

I’m open to keeping Crofts minutes to bring in both Jones & Dolan for Hynes & Davidson. It’ll make us much faster and skilful ahead of the ball.

We’re really only playing one small forward in West (with low TOG also) and using guys like Baker in that role.

Rest Libba bring in Treloar
A few have been calling for a Libba rest for about 3 years now and it hasn't happened. I feel like the club won't either unless they are seeing noticeable trends with his recovery & GPS numbers. The extra on the bench means you can manage older players game time a little bit more than usual.

Not withstanding the fact that we have a bye this week so no one will be rested.

Rest Libba bring in Treloar
Why would we rest Libba after 3 games and a bye?

The bloke has played 109 games in the last 5 years at average over 80% game time.

He's clearly in supreme knick and still an elite AFL mid, despite people wanting to semiretire him or years.

Did his Hammy - 2-3 weeks.

At least this solves the - how do we get Treloar in - problem
