I'm very much ofthe opinion Croft will be a better defender or wing than forward. Hes an amazing athlete not sure he has the pure forward nous that would make him special up forward
I reckon key defender will ultimately be his go. Has a taste for the contest too. Just needs another preseason or two.

There is a fair chance we could score 200 points this week. If Bont and co win centre clearance like they have been doing against quality teams. Imagine what they're going to do to Essendon, considering Merritt doesn't even want to be there.

This reeks of ‘danger game’. Everyone is expecting us to win by 100+ points but these are the type of matches that could turn into a grind ala Brisbane v Essendon last season and Norf v Brisbane in 2024. Let’s just continue to play well, get the W and then move on. I’ve been a Dogs supporter for too long to count this as a ‘gimme’.

That's what people were saying when we played the druggies in 2023, and look how that turned out

Of course anything can happen but this Essendon team is truly horrific. You lose this game and it’s a betting scandal. if you’ve watched their games you see a team totally demoralized, physically weak, below afl standard fitness, and disorganized. The problem is not that we may lose to them it’s the bad habits that come from playing a rabble and then fronting an intense hawks the following week. It’s the worst kind of preparation.

true, and hawks are playing geelong this week. just a pity someone has to win

I guess if we could lose to WCE in 23 and miss finals as a result anything is possible. However, I think I have more chance of winnings Tattslotto this week than the dogs have of losing to the bombers.

There’s zero danger in this Essendon team other than Merrett and he’s checked out. Something would have to go catastrophically wrong for us to lose

We've been in this position before. I hope nobody at the club has this mindset in the slightest. Completely reasonable for supporters to though.

3 games in should be enough proof that there is something different about this team. Dogs and resilient haven't been in the same sentence for a long time. But 2 of the 3 games have shown that and more. This team is going to get better to. Darcy is going to fire up at some point. Treloar could add more run, and then there is Cody.

It’s actually scary how well we are going & Darcy still has a few levels to go, he is literally warming up.
West has been doing some good things but has kicked 1 goal. Lots of upside for our scoring which is already really good.

Plus Bailey Dale's hardly done anything and Freijah's only just starting to maybe get rolling. A fair bit of improvement to come and the fact that Bevo wasn't anywhere near completely happy last week is a great sign.

That game was not last year, if you're referring to the game we lost.
Nah TNP means late last year when some of us were a bit nervous going into the WC game... that we won by 94 points.

If we have our usual one bad game a month against Essendon, we probably still win (one good quarter might be enough).

No I'm saying people were worrying about the 2023 loss just as much before last year's game as now, but it was fine last year, and we won by 90 points

My biggest worry - if there is any - is that with Libba out, no-one really obvious that plays his style of role (with Garcia injured, who we might have played if he was fit), and with Parish fit and potentially finding his past elite form, that Essendon sort of maybe have a chance of overwhelming us in our midfield, if you squint a little of the match ups that might take place when English/Bont/Richards are on the bench.

It is something, I suppose

Whilst I agree that our players and coaches shouldn't for a second be taking this game easily, Essendon currently couldn't overwhelm a wet piece of paper towel.

I know, I'm just trying to squint my eyes, put a filter on it and maybe, see, what pumps out the other end as maybe the method in which Essendon could win.

It could be that they maybe somehow get 2 goals out of the middle when Parish overwhelms ... putting West into the middle or something, because we want West to replace the Libba scrapper role?
