Changes Round 5 vs Hawks

Not convinced Gallagher is fit. Played limited time in Round 1, then a bye, then a reasonable but not noticeable game in Round 3. Interesting selection. Also not sure Hynes did enough to warrant his return either.
I suppose with the injuries somebody has to fill the breach.

We're not exactly stacked with ready to go mids at VFL level right now.

Not a massive fan of the Gallagher call up

He has some strong athletic traits that mean I haven't given up on him as a product but has looked so far out of his depth every time he has come up. Would like him to build a strong base of form in the VFL so he understands his game more and is confident and ready for the next opportunity but they just force him back in, he struggles and then the cycle continues again

I can’t believe Bevo dropped McNeil.

Jacques out is a shame as long as it’s a genuine rest. Bramble back to his former role with Gallagher as the forward/wing makes sense.

It’ll be interesting how we split the ruck role. Do we leave is up to Emmett & Croft or will we genuinely have 4 players all compete for decent periods?

Plan A suggests that its Emmett and Croft sharing the duties. If they struggle to handle the job then I think it will be quickly to Lobb as Plan B

We're terribly young - equal with Essendon last week. Gags is the only real 'power' athlete on our list. I'd be tempted to play him in a defensive role, either in the middle or on Sicily.

For those who don’t want Gallagher who exactly are you playing instead? McNeil obviously only played because he was the best option to run out a game after being called up 30mins prior. We lost more speed in the front half with Arty, Gallagher is the only fit option left other than McNeil. And we need the speed in our front half, the balls still pinging out of there too quickly and he could potentially try and negate someone like Weddles run.

Jaques interesting rest because we are just off the bye too, but don’t think he looked great last weekend, possibly after that big hit in the crows game? A week off will do him well and Bramble can take the spot for the week.

Ruck obviously an issue but team still looks strong with Richards in it. Good changes again, considering the circumstances

I’m more than happy to give Gallagher a chance at is. He has some good AFL level attributes but I’ve always thought he struggles with the ball under pressure and makes poor decisions.

He’s only 22 and seemingly has had a full preseason. It’s time to reward the club after being gifted a fair chunk of games earlier in his career.

Gallagher was running out of his skin in the last quarter against the bombers at Marvel so I think he's fit enough.

I'm not worried at all about his fitness or athleticism. It's been every other part of his game

Gallagher has been...pretty consistently terrible at AFL level when called upon. Massively turnover prone.

Given Arty is unavailable and McNeil simply had to be dropped, Gallagher getting his last chance saloon is probably all we can do. Hopefully he stays forward of the ball, give him a defensive job, limit his ability to commit costly turnovers in the backline or middle. Not a whole lot of evidence that he'll produce better than McNeil would but given his age + contract situation and our injuries...worth the shot.

Just shattered for Arty who has some serious star potential as an aerial and ground ball threat small forward. He's kind of one of the last pieces of the puzzle for us, replaces what Cody was providing.

Jaques went out and no other defender came in which makes me assume that he’d be half back

Moving Bramble also makes sense but think he has shown more as wing/half forward. It’ll only be a one week fix regardless with Jaques walking back into the side

He’s looked ok in a few games. I think a few shocking turnovers are emblazoned in some people’s brains.

He’s not a star but some of his games have been quite good.
