Realistically, there is a likely and boring option and I'm trying to mitigate the Thursday melts when the match committee decide to go with it
I don't want Cox, Draper, Pearce, or Treacy damaged in the ruck by big Maxie. It's round 6 with a long way to go and Melbourne are already cooked, banged up, and waiting for their new coach.
IMO whether we play Reidy, Ras, Narkle, or Aish is not going to have any effect on whether we win or lose this week. So I would rather Reidy for Voss to take the Gawn hits and protect our talls for another day. Without Reidy, we still win but potentially walk away with a damaged B22 tall. That's not worth it in my book. Reidy my book. It's a top 10 bestseller.

Reidy playing 10 minutes a quarter halving ruck contests against a second ruck who runs all over him while we play a man down in the forwardline in the minutes he doesn't ruck is absolutely a selection move that can cost a game. I have never been so against a potential selection in my life and I will forever relegate JL to having no ****ng clue if he does it.

The plan isn't just for this week. Jackson has a hammy, he won't be back for a while. Do you really want to play Reidy for 3 weeks?

Jackson will be back next week or the week after at the absolute worst, not that I want to be playing Reidy at all

Sorry, I do not understand how anyone who has watched Reidy play can want him in the team with Darcy short of having absolutely no key forwards left to pick from.

Literally a better choice. We'll get as much from him sharking taps as Reidy jumping 1 cm in the air doing nothing and then make up for it 10 fold when he "rests" forward rather than Reidy.
Seems unlikely, hammies are almost always 4 weeks. Need to learn to not listen to the overly optimistic club predictions. And even they have already conceded he could miss 3 weeks.

Seemed extremely minor even without club spin. Confident it will be this and next week at the absolute worse. That's 4 weeks between games by the time he takes the field.
Cos we need more height hey.
Look if he does play good for him. Incredibly unlucky last year after a ripper pre season.
I'm not against this.

I guess ruckman all over the AFL would be horrified to think justanyone can do their job, but it seems to be happening more and more.
In our game versus Geelong this year, Patrick Dangerfield took Ruck duties versus Jackson and Dangerfield won.
So i guess maybe anyone can do it.
Personally i would prefer to bring in Reidy to blood him more. He can play footy or he wouldnt be in the Reserves team either. maybe not good enugh yet for AFL. but agisnt Melbourne it is an ok time to bring him in.
Use him off the bench maybe and rest Darcy there when needed. Might limit some rotations. but we really need to get our next replacement ruckman lined up.

Yeah not a fan of it. Cox in the presser today kept bringing up Banfield as a Voss replacement. So we’re not really spoiled for choice if they don’t want to shuffle magnets.

Just for context: this is pretty much every WAFL ruck last season (filtered for averaging 15+ hitouts a game).
It's not that Reidy's a bad mark for key fwd standards or for AFL ruck standards. It's that he's a poor mark even for WAFL ruck standards.
