If and only if Lobb and Darcy are the predominant rucks can we hope to win. We should be charged with a human rights violation for playing Emmett in the ruck against Meek. Against quality opposition We are not a team that can win without winning clearances. When you have someone with the natural ruck craft that Darcy possesses there are no good reasons why you would not play him in the role. There is no excuse Unless he is carrying a sore hip or shoulder. The kid is a better Ruck than English.

I would be happy with a Royal Commission to be honest. If our selectors keep doing it they can f**k off to gaol with the match day thread campaigners.

Common sense would say Rory Lobb as ruck, with Croft and Darcy to chop out. Bevo says hold my beer…

I have no confidence in the wise choice. Every chance Bev will go with Emmet again.

It sounds dramatic but the decision to not have a proper back up ruck (assuming we refuse to move Lobb or Darcy more permanently) could derail the entire season and a very promising start. So frustrating.

Reading between the lines on the Tim injury, it definitely doesn't sound like months or anything crazy. Bevo have said just about seeing how it goes and when he heals whether that is 2,3,4 weeks... I think they will test him again next week, but seeing where he is at now and with it being another short week, I expect maybe the week after against Freo which will give him about a month off and that seems right.

I take it those melting haven't watched a Cats game this year?

They have young Edwards a taller beanpole and Blicavs a "small" hybrid

Smith was required last week would be a liability this week

Anything but Lobb this week is probably a liability. Next week hope like hell for Tim

With De Koning and Neale chopping out as much, very agile and mobile.

If it got to the point of potentially derailing the season, and we're quite far away from that as it stands, I'm quite sure they would shift Lobb/Darcy. Just because they didn't do it on Saturday (bar a short period), doesn't mean it won't be considered in future games.

Darcy didn't even play in this game last year, so if he has to play half as ruck it's still an upgrade.

Yep. We're arguably the only club without one.
Or an experienced defender who could come in and chop out for Lobb to play as first ruck if need be (e.g. Sam Frost for a 12 month deal).

Listening to Bevo, it sounds like he thinks English should toughen up and play through the pain.

I'm dealing with an MCL (plus a couple of other things) right now - it's been 3 weeks and I'm still hobbling. I'm all for giving Timmy another week.

I still think English is a chance next week.

Yeah same. From what I've read it's mainly a pain management thing with English. At the moment he is still quite sore but next week it could be feeling a lot better or still sore. Sounds like it'll be week to week and that's what Bevo is hinting at.

BEV should endure the pain of limited ruck options and toughen up.
He has never respected the ruckman.

Refinery fire causes $20m improvements to GMHBA Stadium.

Was hoping they'd move tonight's game to somewhere that isn't engulfed in black smoke
