Yeah unless there is a late out I don't really get any reasoning. 1 baby ruck and 4 key forwards. We've been playing 3 key forwards all year and generally the third (generally Croft, one game Lewis) has had very limited TOG. Basically going on only when one of the three main talls (Naughton, Darcy, English) has been off. Feels strange to have such a big change in philosophy

Incredibly tall. Maybe we want to create a wall at the little ground. We'll need to mark well if this to work.

Can be pretty certain the rucking will come from the forwards though. Darcy, Naughton, Lewis, Croft, Emmett is too many otherwise... I guess it'll be one of Lewis, Croft or Emmett on the bench at all times, one forward, one ruck.

At first glance, I'm a bit disappointed by the Lewis in, but the more I think about it, the more it opens up options. It allows us another forward who has a better chance of making a contest, thus allowing Darcy more centre bounce ruck contests. This also means less that Lobb has to take, which helps our defence. It also might just free up Croft a bit to run back towards goal, which he really needs, bc he is by far at his most dangerous when he does, then there's back up for if Naughts isn't 100%. So while it's not great at first look, it kinda makes sense, at least to me, when you consider the collective.*

* Of course, though, with Emmett training in defence this week, we've got a little bit of Crazy Bevo popping his head above the parapets again. But who knows, maybe it comes off and we see the birth of our own Darcy Moore

I thought Dolan was quiet last week but definitely think he’s worth persisting with.

No Dolan or Arty makes us very slow

I think Bevo is sick of oppo defences taking so many intercept marks. He mentioned it in his presser today. Presumably we are loading up on talls to ensure we can get the ball to ground in our attacking half.

Pretty sure Darcy will be rucking and I can't wait to see how he goes.

Have no problem with Dolan as an out. He needs to learn how to apply pressure and tackle effectively. Still a fair way off in this regard.
We are continuing our heavy investment in Croft who thus far looks a bit lost at AFL level. Needs to make a much better contribution because Emmett will overtake him soon and there's no place for both when English returns.

Lewis is there as a bigger body and also third tall so Darcy and Croft can ruck without losing structure and keeping the Cats tall defenders accountable.
