I'd like to see Brooksby, Mallen, AhChee, Smith and even Nelson 'somehow' get a run on the park.
Just to see where they're at and what we're holding in the bag...?
Not just named in emergencies, but on the bench.
Might happen over the season, if injuries or Wafl form allow.

We were decent for a half against Gold Coast then dropped off.

I'm not confident beating anyone at the moment the way we are playing but at least St Kilda play inside so we can't blame the wind, rain, dew etc.

Is there a reason Petch isn't being tried on a wing? Noticed he dropped back deep late in the game on Saturday and certainly has the pace.

I don't think he has the tank. Late in the game on Saturday he was blowing up and ended up making a couple of mistakes that looked like fatigue to me.

If he had spilled the ball he regathered and handballed to Yeo for the sealer, he was getting pinged HTB 100% guaranteed. It was a great effort.

His kick OOB 4th quarter looked like a fatigue related miskick.

I think he is gonna be a star if he can get it right.

As much as I’m a fan of DV I think he needs to go back and start his preseason now. He really needs some added fitness.

Whether that’s a month just on the track or combination of WAFL & running, I think he needs to take that time to give himself every opportunity to make an impact this year. I think we like what he does off the ball, which is why he’s in the side despite low numbers in the AFL/WAFL. But I think a preseason now will help him run out games.

Allen isn’t making an impact so bring back Hickey (if fit) and play 2 rucks. I think Vardy would at least be equalling his output in the forward line and is a superior ruck.

I concur, but I think Simmo needs to bring the dual-ruck game plan back in. It seems like Vardy gets off the chain a bit more when he's having more of a rest. Vardy's tap outs have always been C-grade, but his ability to clunk a mark and at least create a ruck contest are useful.

Our midfield is used to silver spoon service from nic nat and lycett which is probably why they're getting towled around the midfield.

Really wish we could trial Brander in place of Schoey, maybe Schoey on a medium forward. Probably too much of a risk though considering our position.

That may be a way to develop midfield running plans as well. I don’t mind the idea.

In theory it sounds like a good idea, although whether it happens or not is another story.

I think when he gets at least a full preseason in him, we will really start to see him shine. Which is why I think taking him away seperately and letting him build a tank is perhaps an idea to refresh his year. He’s not like our senior guys who have a base to fall back on when they have off season surgery.

Fair enough. I didn’t like the Hickey-Vardy combination to start the season, would they consider promoting Brooksby for some bash and crash?

Simpson sounded content with Vardy’s game in the presser though.
