No back up for Hickey.

Extra tall in the back line one less tall forward.

Brander can't be worse down back than wherever he has played in his other three games. I actually think it will suit him.

Hickey had Allen for backup against geelong and still broke down the following week. He’s a ‘test’ this week on a strained hammy. Is it really a smart move to have zero backup for him?

I’m talking about the backline overall. We have seven defenders, we’ve played seven defenders for years and years. Currently it’s Schoey, Gov, Shep, Hurn, Cole, Duggan, Jetta. If you’re moving Brander down there you’ve got to move someone else out, tall or small.

It might suit him but surely it’d be better to give him at least one game in the backline at WAFL level. Throwing him around the field hasn’t exactly worked so far.

Between the bench and moving Jetta and Duggan further up the ground, I think Brander can fit in. The ground is big and players move all over the place after the ball is bounced.

I understand the Hickey concerns, maybe Gov back half ruck and JD fwd half if necessary.

Any special reason for doing this? In any case, wouldn't it be easier to keep OAllen (who has actually played as a defender at AFL level) in the team and play him in the backline?

I think giving Oscar a try in the back line is the go!!
(and letting Schoey find some form in the wafl)

Gives Jack and JK some space, and allows Oscar to further develop until Barras is back (and nicnat and Rioli) etc

What’s the general consensus re Oscar to backline?

Yes I’m certain that the collection of everyday footy fans who only have access to broadcast footage and media coverage know more than the people who spend every session with the players and see their every strength and weakness from every conceivable angle.

If it were up to some people around here, we would have liquidated following Round 17, 2018 vs Collingwood.

Interestingly Marzdon on Nova this morning was certain that he would be playing. Will be interested to see if he's named.

Of course he will be saying that.

If he doesnt play i rather we bring in Ah Chee than Smith.
I'm pretty sure they aren't allowed to be on media duties if they aren't expected to play...

I think MC will replace Masten with Smith purely for his ability to cover ground.

Realistically, would Ah Chee actually have the tank to replace Masten?

I know Masten annoys the heck out of all of us, and I know most of us would love to see him dropped, but until Wille Rioli is back in the picture I am resigned to seeing him remain in the team.

From what I have seen of Ah Chee, he strikes me more of an inside mid/half forward. And as much as I would love to see him replace Masten, I just can't for the life of me see him running out an entire game on the wing and clocking up enough kilometers to fill the role adequately as a link man. Does the WAFL have any GPS data on how much territory Ah Chee covers per game? Would make for an interesting read.
