6 games in a row without a goal for West as well, has had 10 shots for the year for 1 goal, with a Shot Rating (difference between expected score per shot and actual score per shot) of -1.38, last year he was going at +0.26. He's equal last in the comp with Chol in that stat.

Kicked two beautiful goals at the start of the third but the umpire found some phantom free kicks*

*Lewis one was probably there but the call against Naughton was a stinker

I think Naughton will play. With only Arty a possibility from injury and a banged Bont and Ed to play this is another unwinnable game.

I am unsure who gets dropped possibly Dolan and Davidson, for Arty and VDM maybe marginally improves the team but really like moving deckchairs on the Titanic.
Speaking of deck chairs and Titanic

Out: Gardner, Hynes

In: Coffield, vandermeer

I think Emmett has to stay in smith can’t go one out against cox and Jackson. Otherwise we’d be second rucking Lewis probably against Jackson.

This is assuming Naughton gets up if he doesn’t no idea what we’d do. Croft doesn’t deserve a recall and we can’t really afford to go younger again with Darcy jr

I’d also be tempted to drop Davidson bring in Cleary and roll Bramble back forward/wing

Emmett simply has to go back to the VFL. He has been so overawed he has lost the ability to kick the ball, on multiple occasions. Playing him again might risk permanent mental scaring.

Lewis could be used to play that role to partially justify retaining his spot, otherwise Croft would be a better back up ruck option assuming he is fit enough.

Also, Buku has to go back to the VFL to regain some vestige of confidence. I wouldn't back him to win a one-on-one contest against anyone in the league at the moment. Curnow didn't have to work hard to beat Khamis on Thursday night. Buku kept beating himself before the ball got to them, over and over, contest after contest. Coffield couldn't be any worse and would likely be better.

We need players that can at least attempt to compete mentally if not physically. There is room for bringing in Cleary without dropping Davidson, who does actually compete.

I'd go with these changes as well. Coffield is very slow but at least he'll provide a contest and is a reasonable kick.
Not much faith with Vandermeer but we need some attack on the ball. Hynes almost as disappointing as Croft of the younger players. Gardner plays like a rabbit in the headlights and should play out the season in the VFL.

I am guilty of not realising how young and depleted we would become with a bad run of injuries. If we do get troops back soon there are not many teams we could be beat.

The problem isn't simply the youth; it's the attitude that so many of our young\inexperienced players are bringing into games at AFL level.

The level of anxiety they are displaying is off the charts. We need to look at how we are preparing them for the step up.

I know it’s easy to bag Gards but Buku was far far worse on Thursday and needs to be out before him

With no Lobb or JOD for a month we kind of have to play Gards

Buku playing anything other then 3rd tall in a good full strength team is a liability and gets out marked with ease whilst Gards can at least manage the odd spoil

I probably wouldn’t drop Buku as we have seen his best and hope that there is a way to unlock that all the time. However, in my view, I also thought Gardener was better than Buku on the weekend. For whatever reason, Buku looked lost all night, played like a rattled first-gamer with no idea. He needs to work out a plan b where if everything is going to sh*t, what does he need to focus on to at least play his role and not be a liability. Something like what Gards did.

At the moment is difficult to predict where our next win comes from. Next 4 games Freo (H), Port A), Blues (A)and Dees (H). Maybe the blues.

If Naughton doesn't get up we might have to swing Buku forward just to have some semblance of a the idea of a key forward to kick to. At least Coffield or Cleary can cover for Buku's role down back, and if anything it's not a huge drop off. But Buku's played forward in his career, Cleary and Coffield haven't.

Who do think we wil beat in the next 4 games. Right now we would favourites in only the blues game.
Melbourne are not all that much better than Carlton, and Melbourne play worse at Marvel than Carlton do, given how their fans refuse to travel there and how they play there less often than Carlton do.

A lot of the analysis of Melbourne's performance this year is to look at the headline W/L record before you realise that they've actually played a lot of their games so far at the MCG, and only won narrowly, or narrowly against bad teams. Their win over GC when GC were missing Petracca, while at home, and by a narrower margin than their home advantage, isn't really all that evidence of a good win. Similar with Brisbane missing Zorko, and so on.

We also could have Lobb, O'Donnell back by the Melbourne game even if they miss the Carlton one.

Naturally we're massive underdogs against Freo, but gee, they would have wanted to play better at home against a bad team in Carlton while also losing on xScore if they truly are a top 4 quality team. I've got the smallers smattering of hope that if Naughton gets up this week we're still in with a shout. If Freo play just as bad against us as they did against Carlton without the luck of kicking accurately for goal, we win.

You get this joke a million times but you're quite pessimistic for an optimistic Dog.

I did say our most likely next win was against the blues, yeah we are a shot against the dees but I do not buy they cannot win away from the G. Their loss to Freo was expected and put in a bad one against the dons.

I do not expect to win the Freo or Port game , although the week after a showdown is a good time to play them. A lot will depend on when Tim comes back and what his form and fitness are like,

Why are Port suddenly good... because they got Geelong on a stinker? Same with Hawthorn last week.

They got beaten by Wet Toast at home, and Saints and spanked by Norf.

They're the definition of up and down, and more prone to crap

English has missed so much footy that he will need to come back via the VFL

You're about as big of a troll as Scrag.

Probably should go follow someone else
Well you had Naughton’s arm amputated about 2 weeks ago, you tend to ebb and flow between opposing ends of the delusion scale in relation to the state of the dogs and the teams around us. We have been found out by decent coaches, have lost our entire spine and have shown very little effort for the last 3 weeks. Port with flog us. We will make Jordan Sweet look like Max Gawn.

If you're going to be a troll at least don't be shit at it
